The only guess I can make is that a Russian and a Japanese lady will be on the podium who I don't know then there will be a battle between Kostner, Gold, Wagner and the other Japanese and Russian ladies. Heck Mao might not even make it.

I've been watching skating for Years and I am in awe of Polina Tsurkaskaya.
I think when she skates perfectly , she has the potential to be the greatest ladies figure skater ever.
She skates with so much musicality, grace and poise . Nothing is over the top. Her lines and posture are to die for. She skates with so much jump in the jump. She is beautiful! I was watching her Game of Thrones Sp and you know all the other girls watch out, Polina maybe the one to beat in Pyongchang.

I'm not interested in predicting the Olympics podium but your description of Polina's skating is so spot on and so perfect I'm just :clapper:

i think a young skater will be on podium and be promoted as a new star that ISU thought could continue for another quad and bring in more audience and money. That is their game plan every cycle, just some of the chosen one didnot continue as ISU planned

If it weren't for Polina T., I might have predicted that Evgenia would win the OGM. But Polina's Game of Thrones program--wow! This girl has it all. Whoever said tall skaters couldn't do well?

I'm really surprised to see how many of you don't have Polina E. on your lists. Remember, the only reason she wasn't at Worlds last year was her boot problem. I still think Gracie has a rabbit left in her hat. Ashley is IMO, the US version of Maria B. so I never count her out. It's the third lady who I'm looking for. Mirai, Mariah, Polina, and Courtney. Along with several talented Juniors and it's just too early to tell.

I'm really surprised to see how many of you don't have Polina E. on your lists. Remember, the only reason she wasn't at Worlds last year was her boot problem. That's a good comparison for Ashley. Not as glamorous or quite as polished as MB; but like Maria, she has a defined style that sets her apart from the others and she simply won't take no for an answer. They make you pay attention to them when they skate.

Ah but there would be too many skaters seeking redemption ranging from Julia to Adelina to Liza T to Leonova to Wagner to Gold to Kostner. I do think this year will be key for Mao if she slips any lower, big if, she may even retire. I know there is just a year left before the olympics but it is so important Mao starts skating better at least Julia and Adelina have age on their side relatively but I wonder if she doesn't start gaining consistency if those pcs will start slipping like Chan who at least is relatively still up there.

The way she improved this year artistically is mind boggling in a good way!
If she keeps her jumps she could be an absolutely complete & divine skater. (& ofc if she wont be given Med's programms)

She could pull of smth like Carmina Burana etc etc

I still root for Marin even tho I started to fangirl less since she started to get 'star power' bonus
