Ladies SP

zamboni time, and then.... the WARM-UP!!!!bwahahahaha...

still feeling bad for Miki. Not saying that Joannie didn't do good, but I don't know if I would have them apart by 3 points. Must wait for protocols I guess to see the exact elements and such. Now, wil Yuna break her own record, or will it be Mao?

I still can't believe I've just witnessed Joannie Rochette finally nailing a short program at Worlds. That is definitely the best SP's I've ever seen her skate.

I forgot which competition it was, but there was one time Miki did a 3-3 and it looked as clean as can be, but still got a "<". I have a suspicion that callers will just assume more often than not it's UR and tack on "<" to skaters like Miki no matter how clean their jumps are.

It was Skate America. I'm no Miki fan and I'm American <--------- pointing that out because somehow nationality plays into opinion validity at times.

Anyway, I thought Miki's 3-3 was fully rotated at SA. In real time, it was. Instant replay, no. I thought it was BS because some fans felt Yuna's 3-3 was suspicious but others said hers was judged in real time, not instant replay. Strange how instant replay is applied, no?

good grief, some of you are negative!!!!! wow
Well, after we Europeans could read "pelvic-thrusting idiot without any skating skills whatsoever and who only got good scores because he charmed all the women on the panel" about Joubert for about 30 pages in the Men's SP-thread - I think we have the right to be a bit negative.

Oh man.

Alyssa really blew it- she could be as low as 14th even with the generous help. Anyway, two spots should be had- I don't think it'll be as bad as some say (where we are down to 1 spot).

That's not MY fault, I didn't say anything like that. In fact, i thought it was downright rude. i'm sure there's been a fair share of European whining...I guess it's America's turn. Whatever, that's your (and the other people's) choice. but i don't have to like it.

Can yoy write what is he saying?

Talking about his amusing jacket. Everyone loves it.
Taking about his friendship with Yu Na. He is gushing.
Talking about Evan. The hatchet is buried. He is supportive and proud but of course jealous.

Susanna Poykio is a very lovely skater. She made the first triple look like it was as easy as a double.

As far as the judging and results so far in the ladies... I'd put forth this set of factors, probably all of which are present:

- US is being boosted a little, but not as much as it seems, because:
- Alissa does have great quality in her other elements
- Rachael HAS improved the quality of her non-jump elements
- Rachael has probably been hit extra hard by European or 'eastern block' judges in the past, so the pendulum swing seems larger than reality. Payback??

Also - Some of the judges are totally inexperienced and probably afraid to actually judge this competition.

And.. ha Johnny is cute. Wait can I say that?

Two questions.

What are the standings so far after Joannie?

What music did Suzanna skate to? It was pretty and yet, very familiar? Was it a Maksim Mrvica piece?

oxade21, thanks. Wish I could see him...
That's tough to see your rival to win world's title. Even if the hatchet is buried...

This competition has been full of surprises. I'm glad that my favorite skaters are getting high scores but they are certainly much higher than I expected. I can no longer think what's fair...

I'm in the US, and I would like to retain at least 2 spots next year, but sheesh, Rachel and Alyssa's scores were shockingly high. There must not be a single judge from Japan on the panel (or in the house!). Not only did Alyssa fall twice, but the second fall was a FALL, not an "opps" but a SPLATT. Yeah, I know, same deduction, but it should have deducted from the overall score. (flow of the program).
