Well, for those of you that believe that all Finnish skaters are blonde, this competition just started with two Finnish skaters that have brown hair.

And they are from the same club, which is why the first, Hilma REUNANEN, had nobody sitting with her.

Oh, Hilma was still sitting there putting on her skate guards when team-mate Sara KUNNAS and their coach arrived. And Hilma quickly got up and cleared off. Sara sat down and offered the second seat to her coach, but she instead stood just out of camera shot.

After a while, Hilma came back and sat beside Sara. And I swear, their dresses were made from the same material! The only difference was the shape of the neckline! Hilma's had a round neck, while Sara's had a V neck.

And just to help us tell them apart, Hilma was wearing a necklace with an "H" pendant, while Sara was wearing a necklace with an "S" pendant.

Sara Kunnas goes into 2nd position, 2.93 points behind Hilma Reunanen.

Oh, no. Skater #13, Vassilisa RÕNDINA (EST), burst into tears when her scores were announced. She had a team-mate and a coach sitting with her, and the team-mate gave her a big hug to try to console her.

She went into 11th position.

:ghug:

Mmmm. the last skater in Group 2 is a Sylvia VIRTANEN (FIN).

I wonder if she is anything to Valtter... 🤔

She goes into 9th position.

And when checking her position, I spotted something that I hadn't picked up on. The Tedersoo sisters, who I had commented about being so alike earlier in the season, are in this competition. Emma was last to skate in Group 1, at #7, and is currently in 8th. Loore is currently doing her warm-up, and skates at #18.

After Emma skated earlier, she was sitting on the seats on her own upset, with her coach standing at the edge of the camera shot stoney faced not interacting with her.

After Loore skated there now, she was happy, and had the same coach sitting on the seat next to her stoney faced not interacting with her.

Loore goes into 6th position, five positions higher than Emma. But they are separated by only 1.71 points.

The final skater was a withdrawal. But, I'm not sure what's happening now. We are looking at empty ice, with no sign of a Zamboni coming out.

Is there maybe a dinner break?

Yes, that must be it. Because I just checked the Entries / Results page for the ISU part of the event, and the Juniors don't start for another 45 minutes.

We stay with doing Short Programmes, but move to the ISU part of the event for the Juniors and Seniors. In each case, it's girls and then boys. First up, a Junior double-bill, with 13 girls; followed by 1 boy. The girls are arranged into two groups of 4; followed by a group of 5.

Livestream for the Junior Ladies SP is now on air.

After winning the Ephesus Cup a couple of weeks ago, Elina GOIDINA (EST) isn't messing about here either.

She has just taken a 17.02 point lead over the Finnish girl that skated just before her.

I know we are only three skaters into the competition, but that is going to be hard to beat. It's only 0.92 points less than what she scored in Izmir.

Mind you, Marianne MUST (EST) is the last to skate...

Virtanen is 2nd common surname in Finland, with 21363 people. I checked, she is from Rauma, Valtter was originally from Kerava, so maybe not close. Rauma is quite small town but has been introducing promising young skaters in novices this season. Edit. Checked the results. Darja Trubitson is also from Rauma and seems to have skated her PB or close.

That was an interesting programme from Marianne.

Going by her body language when she finished, she's not happy.

Yeah, when she was waiting for her results confirmed that. She was hanging her head in disappointment most of the time.

She goes into 4th position.

We stay with the Juniors, but move from the girls to the solitary boy.

Don't know why they didn't just send him out with the last group of girls. Especially since one of the girls in the last group withdrew.

 That is rather a lot of Virtanens!

Well, at least I now know. There are plenty of families with more than one kid going into skating, so it was worth asking.

Now that you mention it, I see what you mean. Those two girls that started off the Advanced Novice competition are from the same club.

Well, good on them! It's nice to see small places developing skaters.

It is also more norm than an exception that one skater of the family skates synchro. Not only Emmi' little sister: Olivia Lisko has two little sisters and one skates synchro and the smallest one probably wants to be a single skate (I read an article about the family once, also they have a boy who plays hockey), Iida Karhunen's bigger sisters are twins but Laura skated in singles and Henna synchro .

And that resurfacing takes us from a Junior double-bill to a Senior double-bill. A group of 5 girls; followed by a group of 2 Selevkos.

Firstly, for those that didn't realise, Aleksandra was entered for both the Dragon Trophy and the Lõunakeskus Trophy this week. But, she opted to go here instead of Estonia. And I am delighted, because it means I am able to watch her!

On the one hand, it was easy to keep track of her during the Warm-Up as she was the only one that was wearing a jumpsuit.

But, on the other hand, there was only a limited area of the rink that was within the camera shot. (I take it the operator was taking a break). So, we didn't get to see much of what she was doing.

Nevertheless, we did see her do a nice jump relatively early on in the Warm-Up.

Anyway, here she is now.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ALEKSANDRA!!! :cheer:

Ouch. Strange fall on her first element.

Not sure whether she got turned fully on the next jump. But the spin that followed it was beautiful.

Fall on another jump. But the combination spin that followed was beautiful.

Ach, my Dad came in talking in the second half of the programme, so I wasn't able to concentrate properly.

Aleksandra doesn't look too happy waiting for her results. She looks thoroughly scundered, in fact.

There mustn't be a microphone on the camera. I wouldn't have minded hearing what David was saying to her. He was being very animated at the start of the de-brief. He was talking quite a lot while they were sitting there. Aleksandra, on the other hand, was not.

She goes into the lead by 3.57 points, with 3 Estonian girls still to skate.

:cheer: WELL DONE ALEKSANDRA!!! :cheer:

Wow. That was some skate from Kristina Shkuleta-Gromova.

I take it that's her Mum sitting with her. They look VERY alike.

Yep, into the lead by a large margin. 8.84 points ahead of Aleksandra Golovkina.

Actually, make that a Selevko single-bill. Mihhail has withdrawn.

Well, Mihhail may not be skating, but he is sitting with his brother.

Who are the two wee girls? Don't tell me they have sisters following in their footsteps! :drama:

Imagine the drama if we had 4 Selevkos!
