Meagan Duhamel suspended for two weeks

Meagan Duhamel has been provisionally placed on two-week suspension by Skate Canada for alleged “bullying and harassment.” During this time, she is not permitted to partake in registrant or member activity as prescribed by Skate Canada.

Speculation from other outlets is that Duhamel confronting another coach over an alleged inappropriate relationship involving her husband in front of other people.

After posting the above the above on her instagram account, Duhamel said, "I yelled at someone."

It seems like the suspension fits the "crime". Meagan has taken responsibility and I agree with Meagan about teaching her daughters to stand up for themselves.

I think we're probably not supposed to discuss before the rumours are made official. I'm 100% fine with her doing what she did in one scenario and would totally be laying hands myself.

The second scenario I'm more conflicted with, even if I understand why she did what she did.

If what came up when I did a search there now is true, good on Meagan!

After being a big fan when she was competing, I lost my respect for her a few years ago. But it has now come back big time.

I have no time for cheaters. (Come to think of it, in either meaning of the word!)

Shame on Skate Canada for suspending her. They are totally sending out the wrong message. (Reminds me of that time when Will Smith was villified by the media for defending his wife's honour at the Oscars. He should have been praised!)

I see Bruno is no longer at Oakville, but at Waterloo with Cody Hay and Annabelle Langlois.

I'll clarify : a parent at the rink may have thought and rightly so that the behavior was wrong in front of kids. However, by wanting to protect the space for their kids, they've exposed two very young girls to very nasty stuff.

I guess I know nothing, because I hadn't heard any rumours about Bruno and Meagan at all. I feel sorry for her if they are true.

Edit: I now read about the rumours which seem to be based in fact. This makes me feel sorry fer her even more. If a 2 weeks suspension helps her in getting the message across, that there should be no cheating, go girl!

If the rumors are true... I hate that Meagan is the one whose public image has suffered the most from this. Other woman identity is uknown and protected. Bruno may have left Oakville but considering he just had his biggest ever coaching success, he's being celebrated and will have no issues to move on with his career. Meanwhile Meagan is suspended for two weeks which itself is a minor and symbolic punishment (probably adequate for severity of her offenses) but it can put a shadow on her career and job opportunities.

Just the fact that Skate Oakville Club didn't fire Meagan but the two other coaches are no longer there gives some information about how this whole situation was assessed from the perspective of people who witnessed it directly.

If so everyone involved needs a good hard clip across the virtual head.

I know she said that, but it didn’t make sense since other skaters had more than one coach there. Ilya, for example.

Rafael was there with Samodelkina (and maybe Torg?), so Ilia's assigned coach was his dad. Yet as Raf was there he could sit also with Ilia.
If Bruno/Meagan had more teams at olys, they would've assigned different coaches to the teams but I believe they only had one team (RikuRyu).

Well, Meagan herself is exposing and using her own very young daughters in her social media posts about the matter (see OP). If she herself is not protecting them, why would strangers (eventually concerned about their own children) be held responsible for this?

It's hard to explain my thoughts without going into the rumours.
I stand by what I said though.
As children of a public persona, Meagan's daughters are already under the spotlight. They probably already skate at the rinks, with other children. Sure, she yelled. She did what she did. I understand her reaction. Never good but it's very understandable. However, the person who filed the complaint didn't do so as an outburst of emotion. You got to sit down, formulate a complaint, send it... It takes a while and it's not necessary happening right away. This person, when doing so, is the one who exposed Meagan and her entire family to public scrutiny.
What Meagan is doing now is simply saying : my girls and I are will be strong women. They were already exposed. She didn't do that herself until things got public.

You may not like her, you may have your opinion about the whole situation but please don't judge her as a mother, this is not cool.
