Memorable Debuts on the JGP

The 3A's - Anna, Alexandra, Alena. When they showed up, they really changed the game.
You beat me to them. I was kinda going chronologically so the early JGP skaters did not get missed. I was going to get to the battle of the Polina's at some point also. I'd love to see your favorite video links as well..

2011–12 Junior Grand Prix Final
The battle of the Russians included a pair of Polina's - Korobeynikova & Shelepen. They both finished behind a rising star - young Julia Lipnitskaya but did achieve a Russian sweep. Korobeynikova had some of my favorite costumes and programs and amazing presence.

2010 JGP Cup of Austria
The debut of Gabriella Papadakis & Guillaume Cizeron

2010 JGP Cup of Austria saw a face-off of two outstanding pair teams
Winners - Ksenia STOLBOVA / Fedor KLIMOV RUS

Preceding both teams was the wonderful team of Narumi Takahashi & Mervyn Tran JPN who also seemed destined for great things

Neither Ten or Amodio won, instead Michal Brezina was the victor.

2008-2009 JGPF brought us two pairs of siblings
Maia & Alex Shibutani sound missing a bit at the start

Madison & Keiffer Hubbell (sorry -video from 2009 Jr Worlds - unable to find JGPF video)

Dominique DIECK & Michael ZENKNER GER OD (yes Tim's sister)

I always thought Gachinski has a sad and strange senior career - started off so promisingly with that Worlds bronze and then simply faded like melting snow. Anyone know why?

It's nice however to see the number of successful juniors who went on to senior success: it is hard. I have a couple of videos I found in 2020 of the junior world champions since 1976 and their subsequent careers, and it really shows this.

Probably due to competing with Plushenko. Somewhere along the line a men's spot was lost and the battle for 2010 & 2014 became intense. Plushenko was doing pro stuff and was often injured but decided to make a comeback at home Olympics. Russia had only earned one spot for Olympics and Plushenko WD after winning the SP leaving no Russian man to replace him in time. I wish I remembered the details, but I don't and am too tired to look them up.

This is who immediately came into my head when I saw this thread:

Alina Zagitova (RUS) - 2016 ISU Junior GP St. Gervais SP
Alina Zagitova (RUS) - 2016 ISU Junior GP St. Gervais FS

Suffice to say, she won the SP by 3.95 points, the FS by 11.56 points, and overall by 15.51 points. Kaori Sakamoto (JPN) in her third season on the Junior GP circuit was 2nd in both segments and overall.

It was the first time I had seen Alina and, even though I had seen what she was scoring in domestic competitions and had put her top of my Predictions, I was still shocked by how good she was.

Even now, every time I hear the "Don Quixote" music, in my head I see Alina in her red FS dress.

It may forgotten that Zagitova lost her 2nd JGP assignment of that season.
