Men's Free Skate - Thurs, 18th 8pm EST

i really want to say this;

american and canadian should know that evan and patric will be called ' THE QUADLESS CHAMPION ' forever.

I keep hearing about how johnny had two clean programs; when he actually didn't even have one; Johnny lost about 7pts on his lip and botched spin alone; Also considering he doesn't have lvl 4 ftwrk; and the fact his Angles program is less choreographicly compelling than ; oda;daisuke, abbotts, evans, chans, armodio etc ; if johnny was really clean he would have a bronze medal. if plush added a 2toe to his quad triple he would be champ; woulda coulda; the dice fell where they lay

There is no exaggeration to it, what he said was a slap in the face to Evan. Maybe he should of said "If I landed my jumps cleaner, I could of won". And sorry, but there is more to sakting then just jumps, dance/musicality is part of it as well

the same slap as everybody says it's not only about jumps as we all know to whom it refers.

another thing I really didn't like was this "against plushenko stuff" that was in so many articles, commentators' words, and so on...
he may not be anymore the zar or the skater that amazed us in 2003 (his best programs ever IMO), but he didn't deserved all this insulting and so..he was one of the best skater from 1998 until 2006 and people can't forget that and treating him as just an arrogant boy who wants a medal...

He was not one of the great in 1998-2006, he is the greatest in the history of figure skating. In SLC I was rooting for Yaguding, also one of the best ever, but Plushenko, how to say. He competed with the greatest like Yagudin, Kulik, Stojko etc with only 15-19 and could beat them, Yagudin against Plushenko was the best time in figure skating. They gave so much to this sport, not only jumps, but artistry and steps. Yes, Plushenko had the best steps, nobody could touch him in this. He is the reason this step sequen. Became so important. For me he shuold be 2 times Olympic Champion. He deserves it. Shen /Zhao's Skating was not so good, but judges wanted to give them gold, becuase they thought, they deserve it. For me, Evgeni deserves it more.

Please forgive me if this has already been posted. It's too early for me to opine anything very well, but the great Elvis Stojko (I watched him win the Olympic siilver with a groin tear, and I previously watched him introduce the 4-3 successfully into international competition years ago) has something to say about last night, and here is the URL for it:

The day of what I used to call the "new heroic male skater" may be over, but it will stay in my mind for as long as I live. Elvis is one of my heroes. One time, at a casual show competition, I had bought single flowers for some of the ladies, but I had to go back and buy one more, because after seeing Elvis skate his Japanese drumming programme, I just had to throw one of my roses to him. That was such a splendid programme, fully integrated artistically from beginning to end, an absolute pleasure to watch.

CONGRATULATIONS EVAN OLYMPIC CHAMPION!!! It is no secret that I am a Evan fan and just thrilled at the outcome.

After Dai's injury and surgery I was not sure if he could make a comeback. He did and wasn't he wonderful. He should be very happy with his performances I know that I am.

Thumbs up to Plushenko for coming back after 3 years and winning Silver not an easy feat.

Johhny skated a great SP and LP he should be proud of himself.

On a different note, the medals are gorgeous - much nicer IMO than Torino and SLC. Though I in a way wish Dai had picked an LP outfit that went better with the medals. The vanity in me wishes he would have thought ahead for that! (just kidding, though his costume was a bit 'busy').

Finally I got on! I never thought I would wake up this morning knowing that Plushenko was finally defeated.

Here's my thoughts on everyone else after Nobu.

Stephane: good performance but too tight.
Daisuke: ouch that he went for the quad but the rest was great. Reminds me of Sasha in 06 when she fell her 2 passes and then came back strong. At least in his case, it was one jump.
Johnny: wow he put it all out there. Too bad the judges scored him too low.
Plushy: when I saw that 3A being wonky, I just knew it was going to be very close.

It was a great night all around and I felt the right person won the gold. And the irony of it... Evan won on the TES (something Plushy should've beat Evan on that).

Congrats Evan, Plushy (you gave a good fight), and Dice-K (what a comeback after the fall)! Plus  the Evan/S&Z/Lori group hug!

Is it me or is Joubert eating massive amounts of crow right now for those "you can't win without a quad comments".

It's wrong to me on so many levels that Sarah Hughes and Evan Lysacek have Olympic gold while skaters like Michelle Kwan and Kurt Browning do not. Hughes's Olympic performances are not memorable and I have a very strong feeling Lysacek's will be the same way years from now.

Those would be truthful statements. It would also say that there is more to figure skating than any one element. No?

I believe Mischin is correct in saying the quad has been around for many years (vis-a- vis Stoyko) and indeed, we should see more of it. However, I also believe what Buton says about the program being complete.

I really think Johnny would have won if it were the 6.0 System. Unfortunately, what enlight78 says above is true. He is not a CoP skater although he had a Cop Program.

IMO what kept Plushenko away from gold was his own arrogance. Plus, look back to Torino, if it wasn't for Evan being sick he probably would of got a medal.

I think its unfair to say. Iam not one who would have really defended Plushenko in the past, i prefer the most artistic skaters usually, however i think its unfair just to hit him with those kind of marks now, and not his previous competitions this season. If a skater gets such huge scores for what they do at previous competitions then try to change things so drastically? Iam disappointed he was not made aware sooner. The second statement about Torino, i disagree.

Ignore such comments! They just have nothing else to say, nothing to judge the winner/winning!

I totally agree with you and I have no clue why judges do this to the skaters. It's like Joubert not getting a deduction all season during 2007-2008 for having "vocals" in his SP, but then at the most important event of the season, 2008 Worlds, he receives a deduction. Same for Michelle Kwan going past her music in the SP back in 2004 at Worlds and receiving a deduction when she wasn't made aware of that at Nationals when she did the same thing there.

I agree completely with you...I'm trying to be more "diplomatic", but in the end, once some years ago I had about 12 hours train in one day only to see him...

Can't believe Elvis thought Plushy was robbed! If there someone who was robbed last night, it was Johnny!
