Men's Free Skate

Congratulations Brian!!  Every Europeans he competed and win a medal in so far 2002(bronze), 2003(silver), 2004(GOLD), 2005(silver ), 2006(bronze), 2007(GOLD). He is the best!

Whooohhhooooo for Kevin edging out the bronze. He deserves it and good for him not retiring at the end of last season.

How was Brian's program? Clean? How many quads? So happy for him. I hope to see him and Jeff top the podium in Tokyo if Lambiel is out.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, I don't have more nails to bite!

I swear I'm going to retire from this sport when I'm old because my heart can't take it. I almost had a nervous breakdown during Brian's skate. It was so gorgeous and so clean I couldn't believe and every move I was seeing him fall. Every landed jump made me scream. My mother thinks I'm definately crazy.

I cried with Kevin. What a sweet way to end the men competition. I was amazing.

Wow, I'm still breathless.

Uh oh I think we have a problem,

Its seems that with the exception of two men, the rest have fallen and recieved reductions.

Really? wierd. maybe somthing is wron with the ice. But then again i have noticed the eroupean guys seem to fall more than the americans and the japanese. The canadian men also find falling a hobby. the americans just don't try anything that hard perhaps.

Brian did it!

  WHOOOHOOOOO!!! YES! So glad that he oculd comeback like that! Did he land three quad? Or just two? I guess it was clean but i am hungry for details.

He landed only the first quad combined with a double. I wish he had done the 3 quads he can do but it was not worth the risk. Gwendal said, right before the competition, that Brian had a rough practise.

Brian skated well however iam sure he has more in his for Worlds. Verner as Joubert said did not have the experience. Verner said he skated better in practice with better communication with the audience. Good for Verner to get the silver even though his long program could have been better. I cant help feeling abit sorry for davydov who skated a clean program and seemed happy with it but Van der perren got the bronze.

Our mothers would w/out a doubt get along just fine. After the scream I let out after that second place went beside Chris Mabee's name last week during Cdns Men's LP coverage...Well....You know...

So happy for both Brian and Kevin!! Both have worked so very hard this season to get back to where they both were a couple of years ago. Good for them!!

Congratulations to Tomas on his Silver!! First Euros podium for him, right?

What happened to Preaubert anyways? I though he would score higher. He is oficially on my top favourites. I just love his style, it's so refreshing.

WOW, I was very happy that Verner won the silver medal, and it was wonderful for van der Perren to get a bronze medal. Joubert was not at his best, but otherwise this was a really great and enjoyable competition to watch as so many skaters managed to achieve their personal best.

The men’s competition was exciting, especially for the bronze medal but the technical level was nothing to write home about (the judges were extremely generous that’s why there were so many PB-s! C’mon high 7-s for Verner’s skating skills???)
I wonder how many of the top 10 from the Europeans will manage to make top 10 at worlds.
Joubert was clearly the best, solid but not stellar. He took no major risks and he didn’t have to, since the field was so weak.
Though everybody’s crazy about Tomas Verner, I think his marks were overinflated . He is enjoyable but I don’t think he’s a “7 for skating skills” skater.
As for KVDP (again 7 for skating skills!) he was lucky to get a medal. Of course he had a very good skate, for his level, but he’s just an average skater with the weirdest&ugliest change of edge in spins ever!
As for he Russians, they all have potential but they might never reach it. Griazev is my favourite but it seems he’s not going anywhere. Jumpwise, his skate was not bad but he was sooooo slow..
Lutai has very good jump technique and , like Plushy, he has the ability to save landings. But he must find a style of his own. At times I thought I was watching Plushenko in slow motion. Because Lutai is very slow.
Anyhow, the competition was pleasant and because the skaters did not have to bother much to set up jumps (for the majority, the most difficult jump was triple lutz!); it felt like a gala skating!

At first I thought he physically looked a little like a (very young) Abt, but as soon as he started skating that ended fast, not very good basic stroking, though maybe better than the awkwardness of Preaubert who looked (and acted) completely hammered.
It's the first I seen him, is he always like that??? What are young skaters comi.... he you kids! get off my lawn!!!! Where was I????

I like that Lutai can save landings though hopefully in the future he won't have to save quite so many...

If someone can explain to me where those scores came for Verner I'd appreciate. His technical and PCS scores were outragious.
I like him, but second no way.
I would have had Kevin in second, lutai in third, Préaubert in fourth, Lindenmann in fifth along the other guy (whose name I can't remember) and then I'd have Verner. And I would have been generous to do so.

I also wish to give my congrats to my dear little (or big guy) swiss dancer. He made top ten youhou ! I am thrilled for him :)

I agree Verner at best should have been 6th in the freeskating, No clean 3A, no clean 4T no triple triple. Davydov was screwed out of a medal

ITA.

I do feel sorry for Davydov, tho. Under 6.0, it was possible to lose a medal by only a tenth of a point, and that would be irritating enough; under CoP, it's now possible to lose one by even less than THAT......:ohwell:

Maybe there was some compensation as in the short programme he definetely did not quite get the marks he deserved, LOL? In my opinion Verner definetely deserved the silver medal in this competition. Rather than van Perren, I would have given the bronze to Davidov.
