Wow, sounds like Buttle is lucky to be in second. Not at all the performance I was hoping to see from him. He really cannot afford to start backing off his technical content and singling and doubling jumps, and I really wanted to see him go for the quad, even if he fell.

PCS are 12 points ahead of KVDP, looks like tech score is 6th, after Joubert, tech score would be 7th, maybe 8th depending on Ponsero.

Like I said before Jeff is slipping out of the group of elite contenders. Lambiel, Takahashi, Joubert, Verner, Lysacek, are pulling further away from him. Losing to Van Der Perren is another sign of that.

Absolutely. He needs to lay one down or, like Sandhu, the judges are going to cease to give him top level PCS scores (though his basic skating has always been better than Sandhu's). He can't keep doing this. Even in Canada he's going to have a hard time holding onto his title if he skates like this, what with Mabee and Chan and Chipeur all coming up on his heels.

He got a gift from judges big time. Those PCS is completely unjustified. He was very very slow today and tentative. .Mabee should definitely be placed ahead of him big time. I hope he won't qualify for GPF...

I know and I am so dissapointed...Jeff really has such wonderful body movement, dancy style, continuous complicated blade work...urgh, just jump darn it!!!!

Chan is just as strong as Jeff in the "skating skills". Jeff just needs to pull in and do those jumps. He should do more triple-triple combos to combat the lack of a quad, i.e. triple sow-triple loop, triple axel-triple toe etc..

Buttle just got incredibly lucky. A bronze medal after that skate is a gift from heaven. I hope he takes this as a wake-up call. His jumps have not looked at all solid this competition (except the axel, which he has landed more consistently than he has done in a few years.

(And geez, Ponsero had second handed to him on a plate and muffed it.)

Jeffery may be in trouble in Russia though. Stephane Lambiel is a two-time world champion and I suspect Johnny will now have problems in China and reach Russia hopping mad...he's got a chance at the Finale if he beats one of them to the silver, but still...

I don't get it either, his skating is not so lovely that his 6th place tech score in the SP and 7th place tech score in the LP garners him a bronze medal.

I doubt Lambiel will have any trouble winning both of his GP events. He hasnt lost to any of Lysacek, Weir, or Buttle since they were juniors.

Weir and Lysacek will battle for silver in China, Weir and Buttle for silver in Russia.
