Had Meryl ever officially gone on the record that she is dating Fedor Andreev?

If not, she has now -- in just a very brief mention within a long cover story about Meryl and Charlie.

http://content.yudu.com/web/y5b2/0A1uvwc/Feb.2016.SKATING/html/index.html?page=28 (page 26 of the Feb 2016 issue of Skating magazine)

In a sidebar on p. 27, they discuss the still-undecided issue of whether they will return to competition.

Plus I was pleased to see Charlie's shout-out to Igor on p. 24.

Their keys to success in ice dance are very interesting.

1. Work, work, work (15,000 hours in four years, for them)
2. Ignore social media bullies
3. Be open to constructive criticism
4. Don't get too emotional (Charlie says that being too involved in the emotion of a program leads to mistakes, and he says he knows this from experience)
5. Let your skating do the talking. (this seems to mean don't focus on the judging and don't complain about it in public)
6. Create your own style (You cannot expect to be rewarded for doing what other couples are already doing)

Wonderful long interview with Meryl and Charlie by a Chinese blog. The interview was done while they are on tour with Artistry on Ice in China. They discuss their entire career, and what it was like decompressing after Olympics, and the current season too.

I know this is probably not the intended take-away but I was really surprised that Meryl is naturally blonde! I thought her hair was colored in older pictures, not current ones.

Thanks for sharing.

Here's a video showing her confirming Fedor is her boyfriend _

On the other hand, it is a very nice video interview on a variety of subjects, and well worth watching!

Meryl & Charlie's SOI numbers for 2016:

Dog Days Are Over

Rise Up

Dream

Thank you! Impressive! Especially comparing them with the Shibs and Chock/Bates who I both greatly admire, Meryl and Charlie STILL have it. I love Charlie's commanding skating skills and Meryl's beautiful shapes. In my book, they could step on the ice and win gold again. BUT, I don't think it will or should happen. They have moved on and are more absorbed in building their personal and professional lives. Meanwhile...keep gracing us with these magnificent performances! I especially like Dog Days are Over.

Good morning.

I didn't post to many threads, because the discussion often is so active, that it is hard to read even the recent replies.
But this new video wasn't posted for sure.

Maxim Trankov has taught Charlie White to speak Russian. :rolleye:
His pronunciation is very good!

He asks: "Seriously?"
(= "Really? Is that right?")

Now all other words are unneeded. :rolleye:

^Saw this recently. And I'm wondering if there still is some chance of them coming back, because until now I thought they were just going to do the Lysacek thing (where one leaves it until last moment even though everyone knew it wasn't going to happen, ever).

Really hope the door is still open with the comeback. Want to see more of the rivalry against Virtue and Moir. Especially after the shady interview those both gave after being beaten at Sochi. Love their skates, dislike their shadiness.

Meryl and Charlie headlined the Detroit Christmas tree lighting festival this evening, along with ensemble skaters from the Arctic Edge and the Detroit figure skating club. Meryl gave an announcement about the Figure Skating in Harlem program coming to Detroit. This is financially backed by the Illych family, which owns the Detroit RedWings hockey team and the Detroit Tigers baseball team, so it should have a solid fiscal foundation to build on locally. Meryl is one of three founding co-chairs.

They were still coy about returning to competition, saying that "time is running out" if they do decide to try for the next Olympics.

They were asked who they were rooting for on Dancing With the Stars. Charlie said ex-Detroit Lions star Calvin Johnson  . Meryl put in a vote for Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez  .

On video, there was a short feature with Meryl and Charlie being interviewed by a local ABC TV sportscaster. He took the ice with them. Lo and behold, the guy was a pretty good skater. :)

Great to bump into Charlie White. He's such a class act and so friendly. He was just talking to everyone and people were taking his picture. He answered a few questions:

Are you guys still skating? We haven't been doing heavy duty training but have been skating in a lot of ice shows.

How do you like traveling to Japan and doing the ice shows there? We love going to Japan. It's a great place to visit and the skating fans are so enthusiastic.

Have you made a decision yet regarding the 2018 Olympics? We haven't, but it's getting close to the time.

Always enjoy his commentary at the ice desk for Icenetwork.

LOL that's one way to put it. I'm sorry but there's not much longer they can milk this. I wish they'd just make a definite statement one way or another.
