I assume you click the blue button, but what do the dropdown boxes say? And the buttons with the numbers?

Kind of off topic, but kind of not, check out the isu bio of your favorite skater. There is now a social-media field. Two examples:

Jason Brown lists his Twitter and Instagram
http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00012123.htm

Internet / Social Media contact: Twitter & Instagram: @jasonbskates; http://figureskatersonline.com/jasonbrown

Julia Lipnitskaia lists as social media contacts:

write your message

I think the fourth thingy is asking for your location (but you can only choose between prefectures?)

年代 is asking for your age (age bracket)

性別 is asking your gender (男性 = male, 女性 = female)

送信 = send
入力のクリア = I think it means something like "clear input" but I'm not sure
閉じる = closes the window

somebody who actually knows Japanese might want to check this, though

Making it easier:

On the message writing page, click on the first box to choose the event category as listed above.

The second box will then show the skaters in the chosen category, as listed above.

The third box is about your location. For most here, pick the last one which says "Overseas".

Then buttons for age groups. The first is for under 9, the last for over 70.

Then choose your gender button, first for male and second for female.

The boxes below, left to send and right to reset.

BTW, the messages so far (Japanese) are sent just about exclusively by female fans.

Muddled my way through the form with the help of the post above and my own very rusty Japanese.

I do feel like they could have made it more than 100 characters. It would also be useful if you could filter the messages by skater.

It was first and foremost thought for japanese people and they with a hundred characters can say much more than us...

I agree with the filter thing, hopefully they will filter and show them to the skaters...

Do the messages appear on the list instantly, or is there a delay until they get moderated?

Or is there a time limit on how long long you can take to type the message? (Like on this forum)

It's just that when I tried to post one there now, a page came up that I assumed was confirmation, and so didn't bother translating. I just saw a button, pressed it, and the window closed!

Should I try posting it again, or will it come up eventually?

If you go to the message page there's a drop-down menu in the upper right corner (above the pictures of the Japanese skaters). You can select the name of a skater and then click on the little grey button right next to it. I think then it shows only the messages sent to that specific skater.

My goodness. The messages these Japanese girls are sending for Yuzu are coming in so thick and fast that my message is already on the 4th page!!!

When I went looking for it about 20 minutes ago, I only went back to page 2. As I didn't see it, I thought that 2 hours was too long for it to appear, so I re-sent it.

Consequently, I bet it is going to appear twice! :rolleye:

Mind you, the moderators might realise it was re-posted by mistake. After all, they did edit the one that did appear on the list. (They removed a set of quotation marks!)

For Japanese skaters, just click on their pictures.

eta. Does the 100 character limit pertain to letters or words in alphabetical languages? In Oriental languages, a character is a word though Japanese does use phonetic characters.

Yes, unfortunately it does apply to all alphabets.

I hate it when things have character or word limits, becaue I find it impossible to get my message across in such a small post.

Like, my original attempt at posting on that page was 255 characters. And it took an AWFUL long time to get it cut down to 100.

And the worst of it is, when you have to cut something down so drastically, most of the time it no longer makes sense! :bang:

Thankfully, even though nobody else will probably understand it, the person I sent my message for will know exactly what it means! ;)

"Letters only.
Hate limits. Never enough.
Hard getting my 255 to 100 and make sense. But intended person will know exactly."

There. :)

Thankyou! I can still read the katakana and remember some of the hiragana phrases but kanji was always my weak point.

Poor Joshua only has five messages. I feel quite bad for the skaters who are not Hanyu...
