No calls on the flip, I'm really curious to see him jumping that one again. Underrotation on the second quad toe, but the other jumps were rotated, besides the scramble with the salchow.

One thing I didn't like was him being VERY aware of his hand. I don't think this competition was needed, but what can you do. Now he has time to prepare for Worlds, unless they want him out of the team. But I don't see why.

Yes, somebody sent me a clip of him looking at his hand at the end. With the info we got yesterday that he asked the doctors to take the cast off after a couple of days, I am very, very uneasy.

I know my emotions are running high right now, but Worlds doesn't seem like a great idea to me at this point in time. I know there is nobody else they can send, but I would prefer if he ended his season.

He didn't get an edge call on the flip either :scratch2: Do they want to experiment with absolutely everything this season?

I understand experimenting at a low-level competition, but not at the last competition before Worlds. I'm side-eyeing him and his team right now.

Pretty much the same layout from before, without the loop. I'm sure he wanted the combo on the first quad toe, then the quad salchow, axel-euler-salchow combo, triple flip, then quad toe, triple axel and triple lutz on the second half.
Not the same layout considering the 3A+1Eu+2S.

I'm like :confused2: No idea what's going on, what are the plans. I'm aware that this is a bit of a slump before worlds, which he wants to go, but I'd like him not to destroy his body this season, thank you.

It seems whatever is in the second half of the free skate Misha can't get it right. Interestingly it's not the untested elements that gave him trouble.

If Misha somehow I don't know how in the world gets a halfway decent flip it will be great since other than the edge it's a nice easy jump for him.

On a positive note, when most other skaters have that number of falls, often the rest of the elements in their programs go south as well. Though he might have lost some levels, his spins and other elements looked crisp and clean - he held it together from that perspective.

And to Misha’s credit, he didn’t just straight up give up and pop, he actually attempted everything aside from the quad sal. I’m not saying it was pretty, but multiple falls sometimes happen to the best of skaters and he obviously wasn’t peaking for this competition. Every competition is a learning experience, and better here than at Worlds.

Interesting that he put in a flip (and got the highest GOE of all his jumps!). When was the last time he attempted one in competition?

Two UR quads today due to not having enough height on the jumps. Usually when Misha jumps too low it's due to physical reasons. His normal errors are due to loss of axis not a problem with jump height.

I also think he was at a lower speed of rotation too. He definitely is in a slump between competitions. And also, not completely recovered it seems. Wonder if that will be only next season, with the way things are going...

Does he need to go to Worlds and have the worst skate of his life to realize he needs to take care of himself? I’m truly at a loss here.

Yes, his jumps looked sloppy and he didn't seem to be sharp overall. He usually rises and gets back into the program quickly after falls, here he took longer and longer.

Wayyy back in Juniors. Pasha Ternov had to look to Nationals 2013 for a measurable flip attempt.
