Mikhail Kolyada

Congrats to Mika!! I was at worlds and I loved his short! I was hoping he'd have a good long too like last year, but he DID do the 4 lutz in front of me and it is HUGE! Even with the fall it looked impressive to me. So to see him do even better than worlds here, I am very proud of him!:hap10::hap10::hap10:

Today's interview with Mika:

Short summary:

Happy to end the season on a high note
The season though had some ups & downs, on the whole turned out well. Now the main goal for the next season to get on the Olympic team and if it happens then to skate well there
Already have some ideas regarding new programs
Will be working on making 4Lz consistent and adding 4sal too

He also mentioned in the post SP interview that they have been changing the way he trains and that it worked well but refused to say more: 'A secret'
Yes, it's quite a change from his previous interview where he said he wasn't too happy with the season. But I kind of hope he gets his 4Lz together before he adds 4sal.

Yes, finally! - That was exactly Misha's reaction after the FS. And he beat his previous PB by almost 12 points in total, and his SB by 22. It must have really lifted his spirits. And if he'd only jumped his usual 3A+3T instead of 3A+2T, his TES would have been over 100 even with a fall on the lutz.

Yes it was a pity, especially that he would be ahead of Nathan then but it was still a great skate and the 3lz-1lo- 3sal in the second half :cool2:

No Valentina? Not that it isn't nice to see Olga instead...

Now all hopes on Evgenia/Elena and T/M tomorrow - Mika's prize money depends on them :)

The great thing is that despite all the setbacks & difficulties Mika had to deal with this season, there were some good results too - becoming a Russian Champion for the first time & his first Euro medal and most of all cementing his position as Russia No1 and top 8 in the world - not bad at all, many skaters would have a good season only finding themselves down in rankings the next year. Mika's showing very steady progress and of course we all know his results this season would have been even better if RusFed didn't intervene...

Oh a sigh of relief, he's changing both programs :gclap:

I could just watch Mika's skate with the sound on, oh my, it was fantastic! The 4Lz was almost there, he fully rotated it and for a second I thought the landing would be okay too - no problem, next time he will land it perfectly!
His triple lutzes are gorgeous too, especially the one with the 3S in the second half of the program. I loved the axels too!
What is the most important is to see him happy after his skate and I am very happy that he ended this season in a way like this! I hope it gives him lots of confidence for the next season.

Go Mika! :hap10:

^^^That smile!!! :) You could tell he was really thrilled with his skate. Wasn't perfect, but good enough for today! The crowd loved him! Nice to know that he will be getting 2 new programs.

His reaction was just so, so, so, so, so, so adorable! He has an infection smile that just lights up the screen. Not to speak about how much that performance lightened up my screen as well! It's the first time I think he performed the LP to it's full potential, and he really sold it well. The quality of his jumps is just jaw-dropping - the height, the clean explosive take-offs, the speed he had going into them. He looks so fearless going into his jumps, and it's so exciting! And I'm most amazed about how he kept being more engaging and having more energy through out the performance. You could see how he felt more and more comfortable, secure and daring. That performance goes straight into my 'favorites of the season' folder!

I just love the quality of this guy. I hope he conquers those quads because he's a more complete skater than the young ones. Final flight please!

So glad he ended season on positive note! He needed that boost of confidence, he can now calmly prepare for next season! :cheer:

I was glad to see him do so well at WTT and have a good ending to the season. He is the kind of skater who somehow managed to skare right into my heart the first time I saw him. He has a unique kind of charm and knows how to play out to the audience. A natural talent of his, the kind that cannot be learned.

More good news!

Mika is invited to skate during the Gala
As much as I like his cirques-like dorky competition programs I think Hallelujah is really classy and shows his softer side
And of course is means just MORE MIKA

Big and happy :yahoo: for Mika being invited to the gala!

It's tough to compare... but yes, IMO, he has everything it takes (except consistency) to make the 'big 6' the 'big 7' (not that the 'big 6' weren't pretty different in their skating quality and all, but that's besides the point). Outside of the number of quads, Mika is better overall than Nathan, Shoma and Boyang IMO. he has the best jumping quality out of that group (especially compared to Shoma) and is the most well rounded in PCS (I don't think we need to even dsicuss that compared to Bayang and Nathan, and Shoma is a great performer but IMO Mika has actually more complex programs, less one-foot skating and so on). Hopefully he really gets that 4Lz over the off season and gets more consistent again. He could surprise a few people if he manages that!

PS: I don't mean disrespect towards Nathan, Shoma or Boyang (who I love anyway!). It's just my opinion about how Mika compares to them.

He was great yesterday! I just hope he will be more consistent! I would like to see him as the best Russian man in the next seasons!

I liked his gala program most. His face during the ex and then big lovely smile after it. He sure will be in the Olympics if he stays healthy. Who else?
