Who's doing Carmen in the background? Unless...:drama:

Also, what a GREAT JUMP, ridiculous from start to finish, but that landing is just pretty. So the salchow is still alive, and Misha most likely is going for 3 quads.

Back to work today after a 2 week holiday and a lovely present from Mika to cheer me up - what an effortless jump!:luv17::hap10:

I get a vibe from all the recent pics of some new found confidence Mika radiates or its my wishful thinking?!

@ Carmen speculations - God please nooo!

You are not alone in your wishful thinking about Mika's confidence, the same I feel looking at all recent pics of him and hope he will carry it into coming season😊

And hello everyone in the thread from a newcomer 😉

You are very welcome! Post often post long!

New interview:

Short summary:

Nepela Trophy will be the first comp of the season (19 -22 Sept)
Currently is preparing for test skates (5 -9 Sept)
New programs are very different from the last season's especially the LP
Re layout will change in course of the season, at the beginning only consistent jumps to be included (4T, 3A & triples) due to falls heavily penalised in the new system
Trip to USA went well, useful experience, was enough time to work on all the vital points

So they decided on the prudent approach this time, I am afraid it might not be enough, he needs another quad!

I'm very happy with this approach, tho. Does he need the other quads? For sure. And it was probably the most important point of his trip to the US. But Misha also has to pace himself. It won't do him any good to start the season already falling two/three times per competition and carry on doing that until March - or worse, fall down the entire season and drop the quads come Worlds. You gotta play the code to your strenghts.

I know! And I've always been an advocate for adding difficulty gradually but I guess now I am just impatient to see the results of their work with Raf!

We'll see how things are going to go at test skates, though it's only beginning of the season, but i hope to see full FS layout.

I think they want to start slow and see how it goes in terms of scoring under the new system. Also maybe go slightly easier on his back? Last season's approach of going all in led to back problems already in the first half of the season. They are obviously not abandoning other quads because they are continuing to work on them as we have seen/heard.

Yeah, they're definitely working on the other quads, but as we talk a lot in here, Misha is not so young anymore, and going all out since the first competition on the season certainly puts a lot more strain on his body. Pacing himself is the best approach from now on, otherwise he runs the risk of ending his season/career before he would like to.

I strongly doubt it. Even if three different quads is the ultimate goal I can't imagine them adding both 4S and 4Lz already at the test skates. There will most likely be a simplified layout. Even in competitions they will probably first add either one or the other. I'd actually quite like to see what his 4S looks like when it doesn't follow 4Lz. He has never even attempted 4S as the first jump when he can put all his concentration into it.

Agree, forgot about 4S completely, so yes, it's interesting to see how it goes, what the plan will be with quads.

Misha could do 4S already 5 years ago, it was even better than his 4T to start with, what the hell happened to the jump after his injury? :gaah: There hasn't been any suggestion of some kind of substantial change in the way Misha's leg was put together after the fracture that would explain it.

His 4S is definitely a mystery. When landed it looks so effortless it is impossible to believe that he could have ANY problems with the jump at all. A mental block?

Edit: I seem to have one too, a mental block I mean :scratch2: Under new rules, can he repeat 4T? What's his 'simplified' layout is likely to be?

Yes, he can, we'll have to wait and see.

4S is a jump that appears to require concentration from him for a perfect takeoff while 4Lz requires more force. So why put the 4S in a place where he has no time to gather his wits together? And I hope they will put 3Lo somewhere where he can still concentrate as well.
