Carmen is Hispanic though. Might be a coincidence, but I'm not displeased anyway. He's going to be either loved or hated, perhaps with these songs he can get into character more?

Well, I did the first sample much before the Costume Design Competition was announced at Mikhail's VK fan site and when I saw it I couldn't resist the temptation to participate. In spite I'm bad at drawing, I decided to take part. So, I remake my first sketch, then I began to think in a design inspirated in coat of mail. And....this is the "master pieces"

Can really Carmen be called latin and hispanic? While the action takes place in Spain, i cannot put the whole opera into this category - so ia have still some hope. Well, i really really really hope it is not Carmen. His program would be compared against Kovtun the whole season and this would get on my poor nerves, lol (and we know that there are some persons here who all of the sudden will discover that they are very big fans of Kovtun just to show what a "bad" skater Mika is 
).
Latin/hispanic would be amazing for him if not Carmen/Tango "XXXX done to death" :agree:
And the SP i cannot wait to see it. His ex last season was mesmerizing and full of energy.

I'm not bothered at all by Carmen - though you can't deny it's definitely into the hispanic genre, even if it's an opera. Now, I doubt it's going be a tango again this year, his SP was half a tango last year, I don't think he's going again for it. And whether he does an amazing Carmen, or whatever it will be, or not, people will find ways to diss him, so you might as well prepare yourself.

If we only could get hold of the original version of interview with Lambiel in English the mystery might be solved because Latin & Hispanic do not make sense at all and probably due to being translated twice.
Mika sounded very excited about his LP - can anyone be excited about Carmen?!! I just wish they let Lambiel choose music for LP as well because (and I am saying it as a very loyal fan) the music selection is not their (Mika & Olga) strong point. So far I only liked Nightmare Before X-mas - it was original, stood out and had some interesting choreo. With other programs I feel like the music works against Mika not for him as it should, of course Mika can pull off anything so it sorts of works, but it really is a high time they hit on something that would have a potential of becoming an iconic program - as the skater of Mika's abilities deserves it!

This morning in the kitchen preparing my breakfast & listening to the Lyric FM, I turned down the volume as usual at the first sound of Habanera and suddenly was struck by realisation that I won't have that option in the coming months - no matter how much I dislike it I would not ever mute Mika's programs!!! So I have to find the way to tolerate it somehow. However for another 5 days I can still hope against hope that Mika has been pulling our leg

I was also thinking that it well could be Malaguena, and as it is not long enough for LP some latina was added. I remember Mika was admiring Javi's program and it would not the first time when he'd be 'stealing' from Javi... How is that for the idea?

Thank you very much Arriba627 and to everyone who gave me a "like". Thanks a lot.
Accordind to the music hi is going to skate with....I'm not an enthusiastic of Latin and Spanish music and to be honest, I'm not very excited about this choice but all depends on the piece, author..... we'll see. Ok for Short program but by now, also depending on wich song, pice , band... they have selected.

I was hoping till the last moment but oh well ... can't help feeling disappointed though. When he started (as a senior) in 2015/16 his programs looked original, fresh, out of the box and I thought they would continue in the same line ... where our Quirky Prince gone?!
R&J and Carmen it is like a chicken pox you have to get as a child so I am okay when young skaters skate to those but when a 23 year old chooses this music it gets no sympathy from me, only
My verdict: Mika should stick to what other people (preferable top class choreographers) choose for him. Sorry. But I am very angry today.
I wonder how far toreadory they go costume wise? And how latina comes in this?!
Edit: I would be just mildly sceptical if Toreador was choreographed by lets say Camerlengo but at the prospect of a home cooked program my emotions run really high... or low I should say.. in short I am furious

I think all the signs were pointing this way, and the only surprise would be if they chose something different. I understand Misha, though. I don't know how quirky he would have kept on going, or how much pressure was put on him to change that side of him, or even if he was the one that wanted to change. Also, his Elvis program was choreographed at home and wasn't nearly a disaster as some people pointed out. The thing is, it just didn't feel as something that was natural to him. I much rather see him doing stuff that he's comfortable with than trying things that will fail and make him hate the programs by the end of the season.

Oh I am sorry for letting steam off, I guess I want the best for him and get frustrated. Life in sport is so short, realistically how many more seasons he can go on? 4 maybe health permitted. Elvis wasn't a disaster but it was rather generic and nothing special. I just feel like it is a high time he got a program with the potential to be iconic, the one people will remember in years to come. I think Olga is a talented choreographer but a little limited. Mika's status now is such that he can probably afford both programs made by top choreographers, is it a loyalty or financial reasons he doesn't do it I don't know but I feel it is a bit ridiculous at this level to ask Lambiel to choreo LP's step sequence and not the whole program.
However, as you said, the main thing is how he feels about the program himself if playing Toreador will inspire him to skate clean, I'll eat my hat and happily change my opinion, I won't start liking Carmen any better but I'll live
