I LOVE how relaxed Misha seemed in the interview, and how relaxed he seemed while talking about his plans for the season. Not relaxed in a lazy way, or unpreoccupied. But taking care of things at their own time, going for a more careful approach, but he's definitely training his three quads, and he said they will try different layouts at each competition, so we might see the quads earlier than we thought.

But he said it will be important to not only show the jumps, but compete a good program overall, so I think they will be working on his choreography. We'll see the FS on Sunday anyway, we just have to wait a bit.
 
Awww Tutto, I understand your frustration. With all the great music out there, and given Misha’s qualities, I’d love for him to choose something fresh and original that no one else has done before. I love your suggestion of Eugene Onegin in the main thread! I’m hoping the fact that Stephane Lambiel chose the music to Muse for the short will mean it’s something inspired that suits Mikhail. I’m a fan of Muse (though not so much their more recent albums), but for me, their music hasn’t translated very well to figure skating programs thus far (please, no more Exogenesis, lol). I’m really curious to see what Stephane selected. I was also disappointed by Carmen since it’s so familiar in skating. But then I started thinking about it and realized that (to my memory at least) Carmen programs by elite men skaters are relatively rare compared to ladies. The two men’s programs to Carmen that came to mind were those by other Russians, Victor Petrenko and Evgeny Plushenko. I think that both skaters brought a unique Russian flair and style to their programs, IMO, despite Carmen not being Russian. So, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Misha’s choice was inspired by one or both of them. I loved those programs (especially Victor’s), and am hopeful that I’ll feel the same about Misha’s version.

Not too bad, right? I was expecting something less like this - it's very packed with choreography, much more so than his last SP. I actually want to wait and see how this program will grow during the season.

But it really is about the program now. No wonder he wants to pace himself with the jumps.
 
The way people were talking about it, I was expecting something really garish and cringe-worthy. It's really not that bad, although I'm sure people will find some way to ridicule him :rolleye:

But I really like how so choreographed this program is. And his speed during the step sequence is ridiculous, really.
 
I don't care for the belt, i think his costume is boring as the program itself -not bad, but also nothing to remember. If this is the best Lambiel can do, please take another choreograph next season. Perhaps at real competition Mika will put more soul into this program, but as it is, is no improvement to the last season.

On the positive side, his spins are to die for.
 
I don't dislike what I saw of the Carmen. Misha's layout can accomodate his three quads, and no double axel in the plans it seems.
 
I may end liking Carmen more than Muse (however i am biased, while i like Bizet, i don't like Muse at all as music). Naturally, we will have to see both with good sound and visual. Muse was from far away and the sound was terrible. What i miss in both program is Mika playing a bit with the audience - especially with Carmen!- and a special moment, something to make them memorable. Sigh.... Both programs not bad, both of them without improvement from last year, i fail to see any creativity in both which is disappointing coming from Lambiel - it is as if he didn't try very hard to create something special... At the moment i am disappointed with Muse program, he presented so well Nothing Else Matter and with drama and playing the audience.

If he doesn't want to go dramatic, he so should go playful with Russian traditional music. It would suit his cheerful nature very well ad are loads of poses and steps to choose from.
 
I was disappointed the first time I watched it, but on the re-watch it's actually quite good. Best of all, I see plenty of opportunities where he can show his charisma and play to the crowd (particularly in the Habanera and Torreador sections). If he adds that 4lz in the beginning, this could be really good; maybe not anything particularly special (it's Carmen after all), but good.
 
Going by this layout I think he might add the quad sal before the quad lutz, but it's just an impression after all. I like Misha in red, and both programs seem to be comfortable enough for him. I get the feeling he emotes a lot more in Carmen, though.

I eat my words right now, because i start to like it more and more! He has the poise needed for Toreador, he shows power. My fear was that he will skate too soft and fluidly, like he did with Elvis (which in my opinion was the main reason why he couldn't sell it last season). Get ready to read the moaning of those people which appreciate only the fluidity in skating. Naturally,he still needs to polish here and there, but i cannot believe that i say it: I like what i see!

This video gives new light to his Carmen, for sure. I think he was still tentative, and needs more oomph to sell the program, but you can see he enjoys this music, and that might give him the push to give his all to the program.
