Also, we should approach the whole situation with Misha with a lot more humor. Our FF is always very well populated, and we're going to keep it that way like this. :agree:

I stuck it out with Carolina Kostner, who could be brilliant in one minute and a total trainwreck in the next. So, I`m well prepared to wait until Kolyada gets it together. 
This competition certainly didn`t go the way I wanted to, but he has an amazing and unique talent, he just has to keep fighting and believe in himself. He has everything to be a champion one day.

I am just hoping against hope that Zhenya gets herself together, stupidly enough I wasn't her fan when she was unbeatable but I had to start caring once that stopped :gaah: And Mishina/Galliamov keep up their consistency because my nervous resources are finite, there have to be some consistent skaters in this world, right? And maybe even Stasya stops crashing and burning although this will be close to a miracle with her track record. And of course the emotional whirlwind of Tarakanova, I don't see consistency with that sort of temperament :sad21: But aren't such skaters the most exciting? I must have a masochistic streak :dev3:

She is a fighter but I don't like this quad thing, I don't think she is ready at all and I just want her to get all her triples together in the JGPF. But she is someone who wants to win, not trail TKS. But this is not her fan fest, so never mind.Tarkanova’s FS at Ljubljana was

I hope he at least does better than in Helsinki. That won't take much. Yes, I wish we could get into his head and check exactly what is going on there, sigh. He needs to step back and reevaluate things and figure out what exactly is not going right and how they might change their approach. Simply working harder doesn't seem to get results and may even lead to a run down state where he keeps catching bugs.

I do love his short: everytime I see this program I fall in love with it more and more. Like the music , like his choreo, like how he moves, and the costume is also really nice.
About free program I like it and I think he performes it beautifull. I can tolerate Carmen may be because it’s a classic and I’ve heard this music since I was a child, not my passion but it’s ok. The only thing is that I don’t like bullfighters and all this theme. But I respect how he skates with this music and his coreography as he performes it nice and with bravery. About the costume: he looks nice ( is he more brawny or it’s just me?:cool14
red colour suits him and costume is modest if we consider how could it have been.
About jumps and all this stuff..... I can’t understand what is happening to him, why does he fail like this, why does he jump so georgeous at warming and then, bye bye? I really feel sad and helpless. It’s discouraging seeing him not falling (yes it is but well, everybody falls more or less) but popping or like today, what the hell happened to him with that step sequences ? I coundn’t believe it. It hurts. There’s something that blocks him and he has to overcome it.
He skates beautiful and he has improved a lot since I saw him first time at Boston world’s. I feel something special to this young man so I will support him.... but.... Misha please!!!!!! :ddevil: Don’t make us suffer any more!!!! :noshake:

He admitted a while back that believing in himself doesn't always come easy due to self-confidence issues stemming from childhood and these things can be annoyingly persistent and resurface at the most inopportune moments. I think it's hard for him to build a solid foundation of self-belief that doesn't crumble easily. He didn't actually do that much popping today, just a couple of doubled jumps in combos, thankfully (!) all his axels are in place and even the 3Lo. I think he should leave the 4S alone for the CoR at least regardless of how well it works in practices, there are enough other problems.I do love his short: everytime I see this program I fall in love with it more and more. I completely agree. It will hurt his BV, but I don’t want to see 4S at CoR. He needs to go clean at all costs, or as close to clean as possible. Focus on quality landings on 4T, 3Lz and 3A (which might have surpassed the lutz as my favorite jump of his this season

I love his programs this year, especially his Carmen. His posture and skating skills are to die for, and he is one of the few skaters I could just watch doing crossovers all day. I really hope he overcomes his nerves, and gets his jumps under control. He is so talented and should be on more podiums.

I don't know what state his 4Lz is in. I would actually quite like to see it and not just a video of a single attempt. The salchow must be going better now otherwise why concentrate on it? Dammit, all Misha needs to do is to skate like he did at Nepela, why is that not doable all of a sudden? He would have been second here and that wasn't even perfect.

I'm feeling a season of growing pains--but aren't all seasons with Misha like that? The quad salchow seems to be in the best form it's been, and in practice, his triple lutz is as high as it always was. Mentally, though, we can only wonder what state he's in. COR suddenly seems so far away...

The main difference is Boyang is the only top male singles skater China has. There are no juniors or team mates clicking on his heels to replace him.
Plus for Boyang, the reason for him not competing well is usually physical, like injuries. He isnt 2 time WC bronze by chance.
For Kolyada, it seems to be more on psychological. He has 4T & 4S now but the 4S is not stable yet. The 4 Lutz, ....if its not 'falling lutz' anymore then he can add in back in.
So, compared to the other top 5 men(Yuzuru, Shoma, Nathan Chen, Boyang) Kolyada has less quads that he can perform.
Hopefully he can bounce back and find a layout that suits him under this new system

What I will say, though, is that his competition in Russia isn’t looking great, either. Erokhov, whom I thought might pose the biggest threat, is injured. Lazukin is woefully inconsistent; I don’t understand all these “move to Mishin” comments if his own student caved to pressure even worse than Misha did. Samarin did okay last week, but the lack of quality compared to Misha was painfully obvious, even if his quads are ever so slightly more stable. I think RusFed knows that he is not a viable #1 internationally yet. There’s Voronov, who has a good shot at GPF, but he of course is not an up-and-comer (although with the Breznaissance you wonder). The biggest threat is Aliev, who isn’t exactly a beacon of consistency, either, but who has a very good shot at the podium in NHK.

What can give Misha hope from this competition is that the judges are clearly with him this season. They recognize the work he put in and in addition to high GOE they still gave his FS with botchered Stsq and falls 85 pcs.

Hi guys, you all expressed so well everything that I felt after Misha’s first gp performance this season, 
, so my additional thoughts will pretty much be repetitive of what’s already been said (my apologies in advance!). I was so frustrated and sad for Misha after his FS, but after taking a little time to reflect on his performances, I’ve put it more into perspective. This was the first competition this season in which he upped his quad content in the FS by adding the 4S, in addition to the quad toe and two triple axels. The fact that he went for all of them must mean he’s been relatively successful/confident w the 4S and other jumps in practice (as evidenced by the practice reports/videos). But he probably needs more mileage in practice to get more confidence/comfortable w the increased content layout, not to mention the shortened program time, which makes everything harder. Also, I can imagine that adding the 4S might take some of the energy and focus away from his more dependable jumps in practice, which could partially explain his problems in the short. All of this said, I agree w everyone that his main issue appears not to be his technical abilities but learning to manage his competition nerves. He does appear to be making incremental strides in that department (e.g., he had some beautiful elements in both short and free and didn’t give up on the performances despite the big mistakes). He’ll probably never be as consistent of a skater as we all would like him to be, but that’s ok. I think he’s too brilliant of a talent not to eventually shine through/have his breakout moment(s) on a big stage.

'Yuzu stated he experienced the ice of arena not suitable for edge jumps when he did the first practice.' 'Until the day at open practice before FS, he finally found a solution that if he slowed speed a little bit, he might do the edge jumps.' See the link for full translation. So this may be the reason of some unexpected falls.
