Mikhail Kolyada

I hope he is doing better now.
It really is everyone's weakness of taking the small things for granted.
But with everyone's support I believe Misha is going to recover and be better than ever.

New interview:

I will be 'missing' from here for a while yet - 2019 hasn't started too well at work :(

The main thing his scan after RN was good and another operation was not required - great!

Off topic: Wish you well and not too much stress at work!

Happy to hear that he doesn't need another operation, his European Championship would have been in jeopardy. At this moment i think he has realistic chances just for bronze, Kovtun has the quads and the Russian title and the fed support, Fernandez didn't train too much but is his last EC, Brezina did also very well this season with pretty quads, Samarin is also there ready to snatch a medal. It would depend a lot how much can Mika bring in terms of quads (and hoping the support of judges won't diminish because he is not no 1 in Russia).

Thank you guys - fortunately nothing major at work - but alas the usual year-end reports coincided this time with a total overhaul of a part of the tax system and that is turning into a nightmare so far. I always get alarmed when I see/hear 'a new improved ...' 9 times out of 10 it is a new alright but not improved at all just the opposite. Hoping the worst will be over by Euros!
@QueenOfTheRoad - how Kovtun will cope with the pressure of being No 1 is a question mark too. And how the judges will deal with PCS at Euros is going to be very interesting indeed

Grandpa? He could pass for a teenager :)

I hope judges at the EC will recognize the superior 'Carmen'!

Loved the interview, especially his respect for Boyang and his overall attitude. He’s such a thoughtful person.

Sooo he is planning 4S + 2 4Ts in the long- feeling nervous already!!!

Yeah, hard to be optimistic about that content, given CoR and Golden Spin. On the bright side, at least he has a stable layout that he has been practicing for a month, whereas during the rest of the season he was changing things around left and right.

A lot will depend on his stamina, I just doubt anyone can overcome a serious enough illness in such short space of time. If this decision is based on how his practices have been going - thats fine, but if it is solely because of the competition (Kovtun, Samarin)' tech then it is worrying. Oh well we'll have to wait and see.

This particular interview was right after RusNats, before he went home. So I’m sure (or rather, I hope) he’ll adjust according to what his health allows.

So he immediatly was pretty optimistic, love it :)

I personally would be fine to see him only do 3 4T at Europeans... (or bring back 4Lz, 4S I don't trust you! ) He can get a lot of points on execution and his programs are great this season so he will be a strong contender for the win cleanish anyways.

Just show what you want to show Misha!

Misha has landed 2/19 4Lzs in his career. He’s 1/6 on the 4S.

That gives him hmm what - 10% success rate on 4lz and 16% on 4S? However his issues with these jumps seem to be different - lutz he had not problem with a take-off and rotation but could not control the landings, with 4S it seems a take-off is the main issue. i wonder why...

Oh getting so nervous already! British Eurosport as its custom once again targeted the men competition - no live SP on Thursday and only probably last 2 groups in replay, and NO LP at all on Saturday!!!!! :dev2: Probably will show the podium finishers in the highlights if we are lucky

I am trying to prepare for any outcome and in fact I will be happy just to see him looking healthier than all this season. I am worried that he didn't give himself enough time to recover, judging by his IG post they were in Estonia at the beginning of the month?

I think those Estonia pictures (both the New Year’s and Christmas posts) were taken earlier. In that one long interview he said he just ate, slept and watched movies over the holidays. So hopefully lots of rest, physical and otherwise.

Europeans unfortunately conflicts with all of my classes, except for the men’s events :palmf: the one discipline I would have been relieved to miss (I could just not watch it, but I doubt I will have the self-control).

First practice is Monday at 13:00

They do go to a training camp either in Finland or Estonia on around 2nd January due to their rink being open to public during school holidays which in Russia is till 14th Jan this year, but there was no info whatsover this time, I wonder if Mika actually stayed or went with the rest of the group?
