Mikhail Kolyada

Hi VK says that he was no show at evening practice - maybe there are some health issues we don't know about?

Misha and Moris went to the early practice, and skipped this one. Some others skipped the morning practice. I don't think there's anyting wrong with him, per se.

Oh great - thanks!

Lets just hope that there is something left yet of his confidence which must be shattered to pieces by now... really Mika and luck just do not go together this season

Even BESP guys didn't know about repeated jumps - I was like :scratch2:
But I must say this season those combinations with 2Ts it is like a curse I don't think he had one single 3-3 combination this season?!

I must admit that was well put what Simon said about Mika : ''almost overburden with talent"
Yes, he has had 3-3 combos, at Finlandia for instance. Of course he is not supposed to have 3-3 combos in his programs unless he makes a mistake. The only one is the Euler and he never got that one.

this fanfest was so quiet in the days/hours before the short program... It seems all his fans were over stressed :pray:preparing themselves for the worst :roll9:... Good to see all the usual fans back, plus some shy ones (like myself)... Let's send some positive vibes to Misha (and his fans) before the long program...

I interpreted it the first way  but skating first is good for him!

I think so too but at least he seemed to take this 'stroke of luck' with a good humour
Oh Mika what you have done to deserve this season?!

For tomorrow :pray::pray::pray:

You’re always welcome here, Fanou, please don’t be shy :), it’s lovely to hear your support for Misha! You hit the nail right on head, at least for me, about being stressed and preparing for the worst

Did he ever say anything about number 13? Some people think it lucky (not me) there is a video on his VK from the draw and he had such a face when he saw the number like okay I didn't expect any different from how things are going... or he was genuinely pleased

What do you make out of it

I actually thought he looked pleased with the draw, though maybe I was projecting my own feelings ;)

I think it was an ironic smile. I would probably react the same and I can't say I am afraid of the number 13 (or rather I am not afraid of a transient association with it but choosing apartment 13 or an apartment on the 13th floor as permanent habitation I might think twice about I have to admit, because I know of something really bad happening to someone in apartment 13 and I don't want it constantly hanging over me).

Hello!

I don’t know if it’s for laughing or crying but I’m afraid it’s true that these guys have lot of pressure in order to defend the National colors. Most people are so dramatic when they can’t medal.

I admit that I’m really nervous when he is ready to skate. I never know what is going to happen. In spite of all I love his skating skills, how he move he is elegant and strong at the same time.

Satine and Fanou welcome both! Satine please: that “cactus” adjective... is …. is ….painful.

My unconditional support to him, best of luck tomorrow, Come on Misha! Skate a nice Carmen program man: take the bull by the horns! Good, good luck to him.

Hand me that cactus, satine, I'm about to view the SP for the first time.

ETA: Ah, not that bad. Still gorgeous. Popped jumps are way worse to see. When he lands perfect jumps, like the axel and lutz, it's like he just places the jumps down so gently and effortlessly and masterfully. I don't know how else to describe it.

Well, let's just hope for a clean Carmen. That way we can cobble together a perfect program, with Euros short and Worlds. And then just hope for a great off season and comes back strong.

I just hope it isn't as bad as Euros (watching him get injured was horrific) or Tallinn. I think he'll have one more shot at Carmen at WTT, and I have a feeling it might be good there :)

Jackie didn't post an official report, but per Japanese fan tweets, he is indeed adding the flip and the 3s-1/2Lo-2S combo. He jumped 4T and 4T-3T, but no 4S.

ETA here is the content he submitted officially:

4T-3T
4T
3A-2T
3F
3A
3S-Eu-2S
3Lz

IMO, he is either playing it safe to try and retain two spots for Russia, or his jumps have not been working well/his form is off. In any case, I'm happy to see the 4S gone.

I would love for Misha to have a great performance of his wonderful free to close out the season. That program is so special and it has never really received his due. His presence and posture are perfect for Carmen!

:agree: Misha’s free to Carmen is an iconic program for him in my mind. I’m  he has performance of it that he can be happy with.

Welcome, Satine. We have yet to implement a twelve steps recovery program, but we usually support each other with some jokes every now and again.
:ghug:

Happy to hear that, jokes can be just as good :)

He's had a bad season. Wise people expected this after the Olympic season. Too little chance to recover physically and emotionally. But it's not actually his first bad season. And he is not the first skater to have a bad season. At least he is fighting instead of just giving up.

Ah, I know he's been down this path before, which is just so unfortunate. What a talent he is. I wait for the day he has another good showing

My two cent: I survived yesterday just fine only because of the thought before strategy - I'd convinced myself (successfully) that it was going to be a total disaster. As a result I was genially happy with the axel and the levels 4. Of course I am still upset but not as much as I would have been. I just felt that I could not take any more heartbreak...
Going to adopt same for tomorrow

This is an interesting strategy, lol! I know some skaters have adopted a similar mindset. I recall Yuna stating that she tried to convince herself she didn't care about winning gold in Vancouver. It worked

A warm welcome to you, Satine! You’re a brave soul :) Here’s a big :ghug:

How sweet, thank you! :ghug:

I wouldn’t say my own feelings about the 4S being gone are *happy.* Yes, it may be a relief for his fans watching that it’s gone, but Misha himself had his heart set on incorporating it into his free this season.

Yes, I’m more relieved than happy. It’s a shame it never stabilized, because the one he landed at Rostelecom was a beauty.

Sergei Voronov is such a class act in his support of the Russian men. I hope they all take inspiration from him going into the FS.
