Mikhail Kolyada

The curse has been lifted. Praise the LORD!

I feel like the score is just about right, it wasn't his most inspired performance, but such a step up from everything this season. To me, he could have tried 2A-1eu-3S instead of 3S-2S, and just about do the same layout. He still left a lot of points on the table, a call on the flip, but I much rather have him work on the flip a bit more than go back to the loop.

Yeah, he was definitely very focused on getting through the skate, and his performance suffered as a result. I’m not happy to see a skater like Vincent two points behind him in PCS—and just about tied with him in SS!—but that’s what happens when you go first in an earlier group, I guess.

I agree the flip seems better than the loop. It’s actually a very lovely jump besides the edge.

I’m proud of all three Russian men tonight.

I mean, Nathan one point behind Hanyu in PCS, but that's quads for you--not to say he doesn't have a lot of qualities to his skating, of course. I wouldn't worry about that, because Misha got better PCS than Shoma, who was in the final group.

Yes, the margin between Yuzuru and Nathan was ridiculous, especially for PCS. I agree with the overall results though. Maybe there was a case for Misha to be in fifth, but Boyang is another favorite of mine, so I don’t mind too much. It wouldn’t have made a difference for the three spots anyway. I’m just happy they could both lay down good skates after a difficult season.

After his skate, Misha was asked about the negative press from people like Yagudin, and he said, “I don’t even know what to say in response. I don’t have any relationship with Yagudin and I don’t have anything to prove to anyone, I just do my job.” He said he felt in good form before the short, so his mistakes there came as a shock. But he’s happy with his free and he doesn’t consider this season a total failure, though lots of things obviously didn’t work out.

The "besides the edge" part is a bit of a problem. He would have been better off jumping 2A.

I'd want him to still work on the jump, tho, because the height he got in it is amazing. But he's running out of options. If he can't get more quads, he'll have to go back to the 2A, which I don't think should be a big problem, but it is what it is.

Does an incorrect edge result in automatic deduction for GOE? His flip got all negatives, except for one zero.

Thanks for your lovely post about Misha! Can you help me - pls give the video of Misha's FS with British comments! Thanks in advance!

Or maybe actually try to get 3Lo back. It's not like he literally can't do it. He used to be able to. And I am sure he can also bring back 3Lz-Eu-3S, it hasn't suddenly become beyond his abilities. Whatever is going on with his jumps, he needs to sort it out and not try to think of ways to get around it, that only works in the very short term, like now.

I’m not in the mood of analyzing just yet, I’m just so happy, proud, and relieved that Misha finally had a performance of his Carmen program that HE is happy with! :yahoo: :hap10:

Misha has refused to comment on Yagudin's words, although the journalists tried very hard to make him to. Good on him.

The thing is, having in his arsenal a flip and a loop would be a good thing for him, especially because he'd have other jumps to fall back on in he times of need like right now. I just hope he gets to have a decent off season this time and work on his technique, because it feels like this season started on the wrong foot and he never got back on track.

I am happy beyond words! Most of all to see him happy and satisfied with his performance, finally a clean LP - do you guys realize that it is his first clean one since Boston?! What a way to end this difficult season. Bravo Mika!!!! :luv17::yahoo::hap10::clap:

He proved once again (as he needed) that despite all the vitriol so generously poured by certain persons of Russian FS (we won't name any names) he is indisputably Russia No1 even when the disaster brings him down, that he is fighter and survivor.
I am a bit disappointed with his scores, yes he might have been too focused and didn't let his guard go and that might have been reflected in PCS but the standing ovation from the audience told a different story I don;t know it feels like the judges deliberately were holding him down a bit.
The flip has bitten him in the end as I predicted (really the judges in Tallinn didn't do him any favours by not calling the edge there) the content could have been better and that stepout on second 4T was costly but God everything could not go totally flawless. It was gorgeous and I am looking forward to watching it again and again on my sky box in addtion to his SP at Euro. Thank you Mika!!!!!

I totally agree with you. Running away from the problem is not an answer. He has a very nice loop he did it beautifully even this season (at Nepela I think) and he just needs to work on it maybe change the entry and placing in the program whereas edge issues are practically impossible to correct. I dare say after today it is a goodbye to a flip and a good riddance
