Hi guys! I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the MK Professional Revolution Blades? I don't see them on the MK website or much about them online but I was interested in buying them because they are cheaper and I believe they are a good fit for my level (I am doing axel and working on doubles.) I would like a blade that would help me improve on spins as well because I feel that in my current and previous blades it is challenging to spin. I currently have the John Wilson Pattern 99 and previously I was on Coronation Ace. I'm not a huge fan of either of them. If anyone has any recommendations please lmk! Thank you <3

MK Pro only comes in traditional and lites. At your level you don't need the lite and it's not going to improve anything for you.
If you want something to improve on spins look at MK Gold Star or John Wilson Gold Seal (traditional, not rev or lite).

There was an MK Pro Revolution. But it was discontinued and replaced by the Lite. New old stock of the Revolution is still available on various online sites. Local shops may also have some squirreled away. If the price is low, it's probably because the retailers want to clear out what they have.

But, remember, a bargain's not a bargain if it doesn't suit your needs. You should heed @Ic3Rabbit 's guidance.

From what I've heard, they are much better than the lites, which are just terrible blades, period. Not a fan of MK due to their recent QA issues and bad warranty policies, but if you can get them for cheap, they can be worth a try. They are discontinued, however, so you probably won't be able to replace them. And, if you're not a fan of CA nor P99, then I would probably look into different brands altogether. MK Pro isn't that different from CA.

If you can describe what you disliked about the Aces and P99 specifically, I can maybe give you some better suggestions.

At your level your balde choice is really up to you already. I can't tell you what you would or would not prefer, but I'm going to say that it's more likely that you won't like the revs, than that you do.

When I was competing, there wasn't nearly as big a choice of blades as there is today. I learned everything on MK Pros, including triple jumps, and still use them now as a recreational pairs skater. I'm just used to the way they feel under my feet. I've heard they make spins easier than the Coronation Ace; I can't say from personal experience as I've never used the CA blades.

I wouldn't recommend the Lite ones, which I've heard replaced the Revolution blades that my own fitter says weren't popular with their regular customers. The basic MK Pros are widely available, and I replace mine as needed without having encountered any of the quality problems I've heard rumoured.

I'm not good enough to tell you what blades are good spinners.

But it's very confusing - you can find people who love just about any particular type of blade. And different people say different things about each blade and feature.

MK and JW are now the same company (HD Sports), and last I heard are produced on the same production line. One plus is that they have shiny (chrome plated) blades, with beautiful engraving. But they have a reputation for inconsistent rocker profiles and sometimes unintentional blade warping (by which I mostly mean horizontal long-wise bend - one person here wants to call that something else, but this is what all the skate techs I've discussed it with call it, though occasional twist warps can occur too).

And yet, a lot of people use and love them, including (I think) most of the world's best skaters. But maybe that is partly because many skate techs routinely re-profile them when new, to the shape they think the blades should have - which means the blade shape may be a lot different depending on who your skate tech is, and possibly, what they think you would want, based on things like your foot anatomy and how you use your blade. (To some extent that is for all brands - but even many 3rd rate skate techs who aren't good enough to do it right have been told to re-profile MK & JW blades. They can do a lot of harm.)

Before buying Revolution, Paramount, or Ultima Matrix blades, make sure your skate tech can sharpen them well. They each have aspects that make them hard to sharpen well in some sharpening machine blade holders. Gold Seal and Gold Star blades don't have sides that are straight and parallel, so some skate techs have trouble sharpening them well too - they can produce weirdly modulated blade widths and edge lengths, that I think could interfere with spinning.

Maybe if you are unhappy with your blades, you could start by asking other good skaters and coaches what skate tech they use, and switch if yours isn't the best you can find. A lot of skaters drive hours to get to a really good skate tech - and from what I've seen, it can really be worth it. I spent a fair amount of time watching one of them (now retired :() work. He had Olympic class skaters come to him, or send him skates, from half way around the world. Amazing.
