Mone Chiba

I hadn't noticed that Mone Chiba was also participating in the National Winter Sport Festival, given that she had Universiade and Four Continents and World Championships... What a schedule! I stumbled on the notice, went straight to the streaming and she was just before her Triple Flip which went well, and in the end they seemed happy and she got 71.89, so there was probably no significant error... She's in first place, but the strongest skaters of the competition apart from her are still to skate.

I'm really sorry, Mone Chiba is only third after Kaori Sakamoto and Rion Sumiyoshi, after the Short Program.
I hope that she will have her best skate tomorrow!

Mone Chiba is about to skate her Free Skating, she's on the rink! I hope she has a faultless skate!

Well I didn't even post my message, but she did have a perfection of a skate! Congratulation, she's first with over 214! Only two skaters left.

The Japanese-language Olympic-site has published a comprehensive article on Mone ahead of 4CC which is starting tomorrow summarizing her journey and career so far, and not forgetting to bring up what she has in common with her lifelong role model and the most famous person she ever shared the ice with - another Sendai kid (once), Yuzuru Hanyu. Enjoy!

In addition, this championship is happening in Seoul, five years after Yuzuru Hanyu won his first Four Continents title there, completing his Super Slam. I hope that Mone Chiba will win too!

I'm afraid that Mone Chiba has met with what's called "home cooking"... (Still, I remember that Yuzuru Hanyu's own World Record five years ago was worth a good two points above what he was given.)
I hope that she won't be troubled, and skate a perfect Free!

Keeping fingers crossed for Mone and her FS even tighter in the face of what happened yesterday, here's her SP,enjoy!

I'm so sorry for Mone Chiba, who seems to have been the first of a large number of competitors at Four Continents Championship, affected by an epidemic. I admire her very much for having gone through the Free in spite of her pains, and having retained a 6th place overall. I hope that she'll be wholly healed very soon.

I have not watched but checked the results. I was surprised to see the 6th placement for her. Poor thing was ill and still skated her FS. A lot of the skaters have gotten ill as well.

Is Mone all right? I was so worried about her last night, she looked like she was going to faint at the end of her program.
Yes, I was also worried and just hoped she did not badly injure herself with her first fall. But now we know she was ill and had fever so I hope it was all just an unpleasant but short disease, dizziness and bad stomach, and she'll get well soon. I really hope she's alright and not injured! Wishing Mone good spirits and very very fast and complete recovery!!!!

Mone Chiba is going to skate penultimate of the penultimate group, which should be around 4pm Boston Time? I haven't seen the detailed schedule yet.
