Mone Chiba

And thanks to Spätzchen who posted her 2025-2026 Short Program, Sakura Sakura, on the Dreams on Ice thread:

Mone Chiba has been assigned to two competitions from the Challenger series, the first being "at home" the Kinoshita Cup, early in September, and the second being the Nebelhorn Trophy at the end of September, which will still be one month before her first Grand Prix trophy. This looks very good for a great preparation to the National championships, then hopefully the Olympic Games!

Mone's Olympic season FS to Romeo and Juliet from Kinoshita Summer Cup 2025. Not perfect yet but so beautiful anyway.
I'm sure she'll nail both her SP and FS by the time the serious comps come her way
And it makes me wonder - her Sendai big bro when skating to R&J saw the audience as Juliet, I wonder if she's viewing the audience as Romeo :)

She's made for lyrical programs! These lines, and she's already expressing a lot!
Her Double Loop into the board looks like a rink length problem yet I think the rink is 60mx30m? So I suppose that so early in the season, there are still adjustments being done. I'm sure that it will be perfect at the Kinoshita Cup, four weeks later.

Mone's winning Last Dance SP from today's Kinoshita Trophy !! A beauty! And a very good position for FS

Wow! The new length of the Spiral out of the Double Axel, and the perfection of her final Spin!
Congratulation, I hope that her Free Skating will be as good!
A side note: I like very much her Last Dance costume, yet we're in an Olympic season and I very much hope that she'll be part of the Japanese Olympic team, therefore it seems unlikely that she would keep it for the Olympic Games. When do you think that she's most likely to show her Olympic costume?

Here's her Free Skating to Romeo and Juliet:

And the Mainichi posted an article on the Japanese Women at the Kinoshita Trophy, with a number of photos, some with Mone Chiba:

Here's the gallery:

I like it so much I was not sure where to put it so I guess I'll put it both here and there (though obviously "Like brother like sister" would be more fitting but I understand the pun)

I am sooo happy I was there to witness that free skate. And Mone seems to be on a mission. Second international competition of the season and second personal best in the free.

Mone's FS at Nebelhorn.
Usually I would post it without the upper comment but it seemed just so much on point, lol!!!

She also gave an interview to Deep Edge PLus expressing her gratitude to Yuzuru, her childhood big brother from the Sendai rink :love2:

Congratulation to Mone Chiba for her well deserved first place at the Skate Canada International Short Program! I loved her budding interactions with the public too! She'll have to fight to defend this first place into the Free, I'm sure she can!
On her new dress, it's really pretty but I would find it more fit to a program interpreting Donna Summer's part in the movie, rather than one of the girls?
