Mone Chiba

I would like to address some rumours I have read in different threads (and elsewhere) regarding Mone Chiba's scores.
Her Triple Lutz wasn't perfect but it lacked really less than 90° rotation, and it was scored accordingly, with an Unclear Edge call and a low Grade of Execution; had it been better, Mone Chiba may have reached or passed her Short Program Personal Best from World Championships.
As to her Double Axel, depending of the line of jump retained, it may be called or not underrotated, I hope that Mone Chiba and her team can rewatch it and make it clear if it is underrotated or not as per the rules, and fixing it if it is? Because Mone Chiba has such a beautiful Double Axel, a real asset!

The Women Free Program has started, Mone Chiba is to skate in about 1¼h. I hope that her Free Skating will be as good, or better, than her Short Program!

It was even better! Everything was so beautiful and this rich, complex program is taking shape! The Elements! She's getting more and more expression in the transitions which, given the fullness, is difficult! I'm sooo happy tonight! And this advance! (But I couldn't watch most other skaters.) And what a new Personal Best! This is a superb Gold medal to start the Grand Prix in an Olympic year!

I couldn't watch the skates yet, but I'm so relieved to see that Mone Chiba didn't let herself be troubled by the previous skate and score, had apparently a very good Short Program, and is second after it, with a very good score! Congratulation!

Congratulations to Mone Chiba for her first place after the Short Program, and with a new Personal Best, nearly three points above her 2025 World Championships previous Personal Best! Also, for being the only clean skater in this Short Program. I hope that the video of her skate will be posted soon.

Women have been menning? Or womenning? The Triple Axels particularly misbehaved. I was very pleasantly surprised by her score, and am eager to watch her skate, but right now I can't.
