Most regretable performance this season?

Can't she use only jumps that she feel most comfortable with?
Her biggest problem is the flip (three edge calls at NHK), and next the Lutz.

But she did not attempt a Salchow this season and did only 1 triple toe, at Cup of China, and she fell. Really, the double Axel is the only jump that she has had any success with this season (five out of six successes). She is one for two in loops.

Maybe if she did two loops, left out the solo flip and flip combo, and really concentrated on the solo Lutz and 3Lz+ 2T, replacing the other flip with a 3T? I don't know.

:frown:Sounds like a difficult situation for her. So doesn't she have a triple that is really reliable....? But it is good that she at least has 2A that she can repeat several times.

This might be totally off track but.....here goes. Alyssa skates with those hinge skates and I think she is the only skater that skates with them (well at least that i know of). Do you think these "different" skates might affect her jumping? I am just asking because I am not a skater just a skating fan.

That might explain part of the problem. I remember when Michael Weiss started using those weird skates during his last couple of seasons -- sure, it enabled him to do a few unusual moves here and there (some of which were cool, some of which were like, yeah, OK, whatever), but I think those blades had a lot to do with him missing so many jumps during that time. One wonders, given these cases, if it's a wise idea to try and improve on "skate or blade technology".

I think it is absolutely a wise idea for boot makers to do everything they can to come up with a product that reduces the risk of the type of hip deterioration that sidelined Tara Lipinski, Alexei Yagudin, Michelle Kwan, and countless others.

The idea is, by allowing the boot to flex, you absorb the shock to your knees and hips that is inevitable when you practice 100 quads and triple-triples a day, year after year. (Now if they could just hold the landing the way stiffer boots do...)

I think Bebe's best bet might be to change coaches or really re work her technique. Her best bet was with Kristy Ness because she was the most consistent at that time but who knows it was only a year. She just needs to take her time and maybe take out the flip and lutz and put them bak in when their ready. I think it really has stumped her skating career.

I totally agree with what you guys are saying about Alissa & Bebe. They both have serious jump problems, particularly on the flip & lutz. So, I wonder why they have 2 flips & 2 lutz's in their programs. I doubt Bebe will take those jumps out all together. But both of them should just do one set of those jumps. Their programs do seem to be to difficult. Both of them should try to do 2 loop jumps. Doing that jump has to be worth more then falling on the flip or the lutz.

Did anyone on the GP fare worse than Arina Martinova? She fell six times at CoR - twice in the SP, four times in the LP (three jumps and a spin).

Bebe's problem with the flip appears to be that she does not reach back far enough in the take-off and consequently does not get or barely gets the height needed to complete three revolutions...so she falls a lot.

Her lutz appears to have an unstable entrance edge and she appears to rotate too early in the jump...plus her revolutions in the air don't look all that tight...so she falls a lot.

Alissa never jumps perpendicular to the ice and she pre-rotates her jumps with her head. These problems rob her jumps of height...so she falls a lot.
