I read Flags of Our Fathers and the bravery of the Marines was simply amazing.

One of my favorite movies is Saving Private Ryan (no big surprise since I am obsessed with Director Steven Spielberg lol)

Absolutely love David Schwimmer in the few parts of Band of Brothers (Speilberg produced!!!! lol with Tom Hanks I know lol) that I saw lol

For those of you with any interest in the other side - and not afraid of having some cherished clichés smashed - I can recommend Bernhard Wicki's Die Brücke ('The Bridge', 1959)
Very closely based on Manfred Gregor's book of the same name, it chronicles the lives of a handful of German teenagers during the very last weeks of WW II.
Very realistic.

OOOHHH yes. I remember that. Aboluting biting! But that was the era when young Americans were seeing all the European movies with sub titles. One had to see them because that's what people were talking about. Filming women in slips.... It was the era of neo-realism.

Many including myself feel that the Band of Brothers score by Michael Kamen (RIP:'() was how Private Ryan SHOULD have sounded. That score is the main reason I love that series so much.

Well, I the "Band of Brothers" soundtrack (no surprise there, since I also loved M. Kamen's sondtracks for "Robin Hood" and "Mr. Holland's Opus"), but I'm also very partial to John Williams. :agree:
