Hey, this is my first post on this forum!
I am getting new skates in a few weeks (I'm going to my local fitter don't worry) as I found out my current ones are 5 sizes too big 😳. I currently have Edea overtures in size 285 and have been told by my fitter that I am a 260-265. So, my first question, should I stick with overture or level up to choruses? I am ~55kg and working on waltz jump, one foot spin ect. I definitely want to stick with Edea if possible as I like how they feel around the ankle and I have quite skinny feet (and they are gorgeous ofc)

My second question is advise for blades. Since I'm going to have to get used to the toe pick being way closer to my foot when I upgrade, I'm slightly hesitant about the bigger toe picks of coronation ace/mk pros, and was leaning towards Edea charme/rotation, but I know that might be stupid, especially if I get choruses. Also wanted to know more of the difference between coronation ace and mk pro. I've heard that corp ace are slightly flatter, and I struggle with jumps more than spins, specifically landing jumps, so would a flatter profile help?

Thanks for reading this ridiculously long thread! 🤗

Chorus would be okay for you. But I would not and I mean NOT go with Edea Charm/Rotation blades. Especially at your level.
You would be okay with the traditional version of JW Coronation Ace (They are the most popular blade in the world for a reason); or MK Pro.

I will include a link to a post I answered regarding these two blades from over a year ago here.

Hope that this helps. :D

ETA: You are going to have to get used to larger picks sooner than later.

Thank you for this! Yeah I thought that the edea blades would be a bit of a waste of money. I'm currently on rotation blades but I can feel the rocker (or lack of) and was leaning towards Chorus with coronation ace. I did consider the lite but given everyone's very negative review will likely go with traditional, especially since lite is more expensive! I was mostly just procrastinating for the larger toe picks, I guess better to get used to them now than try to learn more advanced moves on small one! This was helpful, thanks again :)

You are welcome. CA's are a bit of a flatter blade and should help you if you are struggling with jumps.

5 sizes too big?? Amazing. And you (presumably) didn't break your legs?

If another fitter thought 5 sizes too big was OK, I would avoid them in the future.

I used to order hiking boots that were a couple sizes too big. Because my toes are too wide for most standard shoe & boot fits. That contributed to injuries. If you have a similar issue, Edea may not have the right boot shape for you.

You said the fitter said that you are 260-265, rather than one or the other. If that means you are about half-way in between 260 or 265, that may be fine. But you shouldn't get a 265 if you are 260, or vice versa - it could create a strong bending moment on your foot bones, that could lead to injury.

I did break my collarbone once on a fall 😀🔫 I meant to do a bunny hop and land on my toepick and landed on the rocker so fell backwards and grabbed onto the wall and my shoulder snapped forward 😣. As with the fitter I ordered online because I didn't know better.

I don't really have that issue, my toes are quite slim, I just didn't really know how they were supposed to feel and as said, bought online so didn't try on before buying.

The fitter (new one this time) didn't do a full fitting, he just heard me talking about my skate size in his shop and got me to stand on the measuring thing. I had thick socks on as well, so it said 265 but I think with correct socks I will be a 260 (I'll find out in a couple weeks when my appointment is). Yeah I will definitely buy the size that is correct and that the fitter recommends not a size above
