New MK endorsement

Personally I don't see where an endorsement has anything to do with how Kwan is training/skating/competing. Goodness you'd think she was just gonna phone in her performance at Nationals so she could get on the Olympic team or something. Besides, the Kwan family always had investors in building that ice rink. Why in the world would anyone think someone, no matter how wealthy they are, would go it alone (leaving Donald Trump out of this and he ALWAYS has investors in his buildings) to build any building?
I don't like Dr. Pepper or Pepsi. I am a Coca Cola person from the word start. Always have been. And I'm glad to see Kwan getting this deal. I think she's always shown excellent sportswomanship whether she won or lost. And I think it shows that this is the type of spokesperson Coca Cola was looking for.
And I certainly hope Kwan is on the Olympic team no matter who outskates her at Nationals. But that's just me.

Thanks for the interesting facts about Dr. Pepper, Jhar! According to the Coca-Cola web site, Coca-Cola distributes 400 brands in 200 countries. Dr. Pepper is listed as one which Coca-Cola is licensed to distribute, but does not own outright.

I'm with you totally....drinking coca now.
Probably Michelle is the lucky one among all the top skaters. But she deserves every penny of the wealth she earned. She is such a great lady... she has been out there to compete for so long...her family sold the house and used most of their living expenses to support her and her sister...

Kwan is a millionaire many times over. This "big meal ticket" is just one of many big $$ endorsements she has received over the years, and I'm sure her money is prudently invested. If she ended her career right now, she probably wouldn't have to work another day in her life.
Furthermore, Michelle Kwan was so motivated and worked so hard over the summer and early fall that she injured herself and may have jeopardized her Olympic hopes.
Actually, I can't tell what the different between the Pepsi and Coca mearly drinking them. Unless I saw the different color of cans being opened before pouring into my cup. :lol: But I don't drink too much of either. I am a Coke drinker also, but when I was a kid many, many years ago I remember drinking all kinds of pop, you get tired of one and switch to something else. But now Coke is my 1st choice, I can tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi, Pepsi is sweeter at least to me.
IMO they ruined all pop / soda when they did away with the glass bottles the taste has never been the same.

Fascinating take on soft drinks. And so much to do with Figure Skating.
Injury could be a result of over training or hard working, it also could be the result of not enough motivation. Most experienced skaters know if you are not focused, you could easily get injured... Michelle could be super rich and her wealth could support the rest of her life...but her wealth may not be enough to support her parents...They still have to work at the rink...Managing a huge rink with many freestyle and public skating sessions every day is not an easy job...No wonder most rinks prefer to rent the ice to hockey coaches since they pay the entire ice...

I can't think of many skaters competing today who are more experienced than Michelle Kwan, who has competed as a Senior since 1993, all of thirteen seasons, and sustained just two injuries: a stress fracture in her foot in the 1996-1997 season (and she competed anyway, in spite of the injury) and the more debilitating hip injury she suffered this past October. She went for NINE YEARS without a serious injury, perhaps because she was careful to tailor her competition schedule to what her body could bear. She worked hard this year because she wanted to do the GP, and prepare herself well for Torino, and it seems she was too motivated and worked too hard.
There are other skaters who have spent more time injured proportionately than Kwan has. Sasha has competed as a Senior only since medaling at 2000 Nationals, and in less than half of the years of competition experience than Kwan's, she was out an entire year, including 2001 Nationals, to a back injury; she lost half of the 2004-2005 season due to a recurrence of the same injury; and half of the GP this season to a bruised hip. Shall we attribute Sasha's many injuries over a very short time span to lack of motivation and focus?
Kwan is a millionaire many times over and could support herself and her entire family for the rest of their lives without ever having to put on a skate again. Have you ever considered that Kwan has given her family a share in the rink, and that they work there because they want to, as part owners, to make sure the rink is managed appropriately?

Almost every body in skating world knows that Michelle's parents manage the rink. In you opinion, this fact assults the family? How do you know Michelle could and should support her parents? Where did you get her financial details?
