New Plushy Interview

After the pairs long programs, she was asked about DZhang's accident and she said something along the lines of the Zhangs being aggressive in the warm up and not letting them warm up properly

I have seen an interview with Max where he has confirmed that. He said they tried to be very careful in the warm up, to avoid to be injured, because Z/Z constantly were on their road. So it must have been true.

If Plushenko seemed harsh on T. Tatmianina, I think it could be described as such: Last winter, TT and Max did press conferences in Russia with Plushenko to hype his upcoming tour that they would be a part of. In the newspapers we saw numerous photos, including a shot of Plushenko holding TT up in a Pairs pose above his head, to generate publicity for the shows.

Just after that time, Plushenko's, shall we say "personal life", went in a new direction with a new girlfriend (that he is presently with), although he remained fully committed to his new tour. TT and Max decided not to do his tour, although they had a contract. An ugly dispute erupted in the press with threats of lawsuits. Soon after the US Champions On Ice tour began, with Plushenko a part of it, along with TT and Max. The pairs team shows up in the US, does maybe 4 of 5 shows, and then goes back to Russia, breaking their COI contract.

So, in Plushenko's mind, not only was his tour hurt - and his audiences disappointed - but now a second tour that he is a major part of (COI) is also hurt by their sudden withdrawal from performing.

As for COI, you change the spokes but the wheel keeps turnin'. A quick call to Naomi Nari Nam and Themi Leftheris, and it's, "Who's Totmiania and Marinen?"

It is not like stony faced unemotional Tatiana and Maxim you would think are these wonderous show skaters anyway. Me would thinks a tour could surivive in their absence. ;)

There is this saying in Russia: "The woman's life was easy until she made it busy - she bought herself a pig".

You should check out a video of their "Phantom of the Opera" exhibition. It's wonderful. It's my favorite program to that music I've ever seen.

No Cup of Russia, then?

Looks like it. At least, if the information is correct. See, Plushy's developed complications related to the last surgery, and might need a second operation, soon. Or so they say.

Can't read that. So maybe we will not see him in CoR and have to wait for Euros. He could probably miss Russian Nats without any consequences.

?? Why is that? He hasn't competed since Olympics, and is currently documented with having "complications" from the knee surgery, which it's assumed will keep him out of CoR. Russian test skate I believe is tomorrow. Why give him an automatic pass to Euros when his physical condition is more of a crap shoot than any of the other less consistent skaters who will at least be seen competitively by that point?

Plushenko will not be given an automatic pass. If he truly wants to return and participate at Euros and Worlds, but misses the Russian Nationals , he’ll have to skate in front of Piseev to prove he’s competitive .
True, if Plushenko gets back to his previous form (which is not going to be easy at all ), he’ll probably be preferred to Dobrin, Lutai, Griazev even if these improve a lot and have great results and this kind of seems unfair. But can you blame Piseev? Plushenko has never been outside top 2 at Europeans and outside top 4 at Worlds even when he had meltdowns . The Russians need two spots for the next year’s Worlds which are very important for Olympics and, no question, a competitive Plushenko, even if not in the best form, is the answer.
Last season Dobrin, Lutai, Griazev had the chance to establish themselves but unfortunately they blew it. They would need an exceptional season to make Piseev believe that one of them is the best choice for Worlds, even when compared to Plushenko.
