New Survivor Show

Miscellaneous Observations from tonight's installment:

1. Sometimes I wonder about the fairness of these challenges, in regards to the men vs. women thing. Last week's immunity challenge was a perfect example; over the years on Survivor, there may have been 1 or 2 women who could have conceivably done well on that, but certainly not the current group. And not most average women, either, that was just, IMO, too much of a "brute strength" thing, all things considered, for the average woman to do especially well in. Tho Purvati being a boxer, I would have expected her to do a bit better. I was also thinking tonight's mud challenge was a little unfair, too, given that, IN THEORY, it would depend on how much body you had to cover, but I guess Ozzy pretty much threw that theory out the window given he was the littlest of the 3 guys and he pretty much blew them out of the water. (Tho having that hair could be an advantage; I'm pretty certain that hair alone probably counted for at least 6 or 7 extra pounds). Actually, given the types of challenges, Ozzy's lack of height (compared to Yul and Adam) is actually an advantage; he's got that lower center of gravity thing going on which makes it much easier to balance. [That and I swear the man in general is an absolute FREAK OF NATURE, given some of the stuff he's been able to do so easily.] On the balance thing, I personally would have done even worse than Adam (who you can totally tell is just about to totally lose it) [I mean mentally, not just the game]. As for Sundra -- I love her, but highly question her ability to even walk and chew gum at the same time. None of these ladies, as Sean pointed out, is exactly Nadia Comaneci to begin with, but Sundra is the worst of a bad bunch in that department. I did love Jeff's comment about "It's like watching really bad performance art" at the mud challenge.

2. And speaking further on mud, am I the only one who's noticed, that in the opening credits, when they show the close-up photos of the participants, that a bunch of mud gets splattered onto Jonathan's picture before they cut away? And I couldn't believe Becky and Sundra sitting around all covered in mud once they got back to camp. Priority one, before I even GOT back to camp, would be to GET THAT SLUDGE OFF ME IMMEDIATELY. I would go nuts.

3. Note to all future male cast members of future Survivor editions: Please make sure to pack a pair of shorts that is one size down, waistline wise, than the size you currently wear. Otherwise, long about Day 20, once you've lost that weight and your waistline shrinks, you are going to be losing your pants about every 10 minutes, especially during challenges.

4. Yul's comment about "I wonder if Jeff is going to yell at me?"......I know we have discussed the -- er -- general attitude of Mr. Probst on here previously, but has he gotten so bad that now contestants are more afraid of the WRATH OF JEFF than they are of losing a challenge? Just how obnoxious IS he??

5. Jonathan sure cleans up good. What a good-looking guy!! However, that doesn't change the fact that he's still a JACKASS.

6. I still like everyone left, but the one person I am rooting against would be Becky. I really do think she's spent the game riding Yul's coat-tails. And while I like the way Yul is handling himself as the "puppetmaster" (at least he's being classy about it, unlike the Boston Rob approach [All-Stars] being all hyuck, hyuck, hyuck, these people are all so dang dumb, hyuck hyuck hyuck) I had a bit of a problem when he went off on Adam for talking to Ozzy. HEY -- it's down to 6 people and it IS a game and it's OPEN SEASON. Yul may be in charge, but he ain't the boss of Adam.

I think Yul "went off" on Adam for trying alignment with Ozzy because he knew that Adam would be susceptible to such a chewing out. Notice he didn't go after Ozzy instead. Yul reads the personalities out there pretty well. He just should watch out for Becky, who could possibly throw him over at the first chance she can.

From the sneek peek at the final Ozzy not doing to good at the challenge.
BTW what's with all the puzzle challenges? and did they have the gross food eating this time or did I miss it?
I kind of like to see Ozzy when, he has been a strong player and played for his self. Buit then thoses are the ones they always boot out and leave the lazy ones to come back to bite them in the butt by winning.

No nasty food eating so far.

Once they get Adam out, all the lazy ones will be gone.

Assuming an Aitu, final 4.
Becky appears to be aligned with Yul.
I assume that Ozzy and Sundra must be aligned by now.
If it's 2 guys and one gal in the final 3, it'll be one of the guys eliminated for final 2 since both guys have a better chance at beating both girls.
If it's 1 guy and one gal & a gal wins tha last immunity and If the 2 girls were smart enough to form an alliance, it'll be 2 ladies in the final 2 since they have an even chance of winning against each other vs one of the guys.

Now, if Adam ends up in the final, he's got a pretty good shot at winning since the jury is mostly Raro and he's the last man standing from that tribe. Ugh - I hope that does not happen.

I like Yul, he played a great game, and while at the time I thought it was stupid of him to reveal he had the idol so early, in hindsight it turned out to be a brilliant decision. However -- I think they picked the wrong guy. Yul, to an extent, got lucky -- IMO, finding the idol was the whole key to the game and if he hadn't been sent to Exile Island, and if he hadn't found the thing, etc, etc, he may not have gotten that far. Ozzy, on the other hand -- what a force of nature. A little luck involved, by aligning himself with the right people, but definitely MOSTLY skill involved. Wow! He really should have won the thing, IMHO, tho I will agree with Jeff, along with I'm sure many others, that this was probably the best winner/runner-up combination Survivor has ever had.

That "fire challenge tiebreaker" CRACKED ME UP. I would be just absolutely MORTIFIED. Tho I suppose the good thing about a situation like that is, you'd be so ready to crawl into a hole and disappear after not being able to make fire after 1 hour and 45 minutes, even with matches, that the last thing on your mind, at least until later, was that you just got voted out. I would have welcomed the opportunity to just get myself outa there at that point.

re. the jury: NOW I understand some of the stuff SeaniBu has been saying about Adam and Candice. How unbelievably rude!! I wonder if Ozzy may have lost a vote or two (and hence the whole game) by rising to Adam's "trash-talking" bait? And the idea of Jonathan giving ANYONE any kind of "personality and character assessment" is absolutely laughable.

What was with Candice, Adam, and Parvati's eye rolling. I think those 3 thought they were the end all - be all players...........    maybe in some other game. I think if Adam said you guys need to trash talk about each other, I would have said no...........that's your game, not mine dumbo!!!! And then Candice saying to Yul, I will have to rethink my vote now because you broke the rules...........what a snot!!!

I would have been happy with either Yul or Ozzy winning. I felt sorry for Becky not getting a vote but I understand it, I wouldn't have voted for her either.

Yay for Yul! He totally deserved it!

As for Becky not getting a vote...one thing against her was that I think this jury knew it would be close and a vote for her would've been a bit of a wasted vote (kind of like those third party candidates in the presidential elections!). But what would they have done if it was a tie in the end? Have another fire challenge?

Yul Rules! He did have to decipher the clues correctly to find the idol; so, I wouldn't call it luck. Ozzy may have ruled at the physical challenges, but he didn't seem very involved in the strategizing. He said he was in the game for himself - so, it sounds like he would have kept the idol hidden from everyone instead of using it as strategy. Also, Ozzy said that they decided by committee, but Yul said that he leads a team by building consensus - so, Yul has to get a lot of credit for guiding the tribe. So, Yul played the game at a different level than Ozzy that is much better suited for survival in all different lifestyles.

In Survivor 2, Colby should have won if you based it upon challenges, yet he lost to Tina who was just nice to everyone.

Anyone else notice that Jonathon sounds just like Alan Alda (Hawkeye fr MASH, presidential candidate during West Wing.?

Have to say I am totally happy with the out come. No shock that Candi and Ad,dumb aren't still an item - players. I think Pav is liking Ozzie.

One thing I did not like was the 3 way thing. Stupid choice IMO. And who received the runner up prize??? Both of them, they both made the "judgment."????

:agree: :agree: :agree: I thought that the first few times I saw him, but reminds me more of the Four Seasons Alan Alda then the M*A*S*H.

I go to another board where someone pointed out that having a Final 3 allowed 2 strong players to be left standing.

If they had gone to a final 2, then either Becky or Sundra would have been eliminated. Based on the tie breaker (both deserved to be eliminated for not being able to build a fire for 90 minutes.), Sundra would have been gone 1st.

If Becky or Yul had won a final immunity challenge, they would eliminated Ozzy and it would have been a landslide for Yul. If Ozzy had won the last immunity challenge, he would have eliminated Yul and he would have won in a landslide. So, by having a final 3, we were able to Yul vs Ozzy and a really close vote.

SO....I haven't watched a single episode of the entire season.

I did hear that the Asians won the "puzzle" challenge on the first show, though. That made me LOL.
