NBC definitely doesn't run as many commercials as ABC during programs like this. I haven't finished watching all of it yet, but what I've seen so far is interesting. I could almost hear John Zimmerman muttering to himself, "Gee, I wish my wife would learn to skate counterclockwise like a normal person. It would make performing with her alot less complicated." And giving birth has definitely given Yamaguchi a sexier bod. She looks alot more womanly now.

I saw that special! I didn't know it was going to be on-I came across it! That was the first time I've seen John Zimmerman's wife ice skating (I think)! And it was so great seeing Ilia Kulik!

Now I know why John & Sylvia aren't skating partners! I was wondering! I agree with you Nan-they should skate more together!
Re Kristi, almost every female dancer I know says having a child or children has improved their dancing. I wonder if skaters feel the same? Kristi sure looked great--happy and forgive the cliche, glowing.
John Z. and Syliva were a pleasant surprise. I saw Sylvia skate live recently with NY Ice Theatre (sans John--dang!). I found it to be a lot of flingy energy, but for me it worked because it was so genuninely her. I agree that although they are counter counterclockwise skaters, the right choreographer could do some very interesting things with them.
Loved Yuka's black costume and Yuka, natch.
Some of the best skating I've seen from Ilia in all the specials he's been in. Part of it was great camera work--something Brian always seems to make sure is exceptionally good in his specials--and part of it seemed to be that he was just on and charged. The guy is a consummate artist, IMO. Yowsa!

I also loved Silvia and John's number. They would make a great on-ice as well as off-ice couple. The show, as a whole, was great too. Woohoo!

The show - haven't watched it all yet, but saw some of Yuka's skating. Does she just keep getting better? I wonder if any of the current eligibles will come into their own as pro's as Yuka and Kristi (amongst others) have done.
First ice show of the season I genuinely liked. I was a little put off by the theme of "Colors", but I'll be damned, it worked!! It reminded me a little of the pro events in the early-mid 90's. Unlike now, there was such a variety of skaters. Now it's more or less the same skaters, different shows.
I was pleasantly surprised to see Rory Burghart skating- she came out of the blue (or should I say yellow?
). She was always very expressive on the ice and had great athletic ability. I never knew, however, that she was pretty flexible. Her spiral ranks right up there with Kwan, Cohen, and Hughes ( Yes, didn't hold it for long, but could you at her age?)
The best part for me was watching Leonova and Khavalko. I probably saw them on TV more than once, but they really caught my eye when they performed at the World Pro Championships (I forget which year). They were in blue costumes and part, if not all, of their music came from the Pocahontas soundtrack(I think). I rarely watch pairs, but I'm glad I caught a glimpse of them. I really wish they would skate more often.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Steven Cousins yet!!
While I'm usually not a big fan of skaters wiggling their hips in the middle of the ice, Steven could do just that all day and I wouldn't mind at all 
. In fact, I should send an email to the Disson Skating Show people and petition for Steven to have his own show- two hours of him and his swiveling hips. Best two hours. Ever. (OK, I'm way off track, time for bed)

Just finished watching my tape of Brian B.'s skating special. He always manages to put together a first class skating event.
I agree with nysk8er........it was nice to see Rory back skating again. It's been a while.
I asked this once before........why isn't Ilia still skating competitively? He simple floats down from his jumps and his footwork is right up there with Kurt's. I'm wondering, he doesn't skate for a tour anymore........why not?
It was also nice to see one of my all time fav's, Karyn.
