Day 1 was short- PreJuvenile plus Pre-novice and Novice short. PreJuv had sme excellent young skaters showing lots of potential for the future. The top skaters had axels plus a couple of clean doubles in programmes that also had good speed, flow and quality. The winner, Emily Benson really sells her programme well. Pre-juv men had just a couple of entries with Jonathan connells jumps allowing him to edge out Roland Penney.

Kaetlym Osmond was the clear leader after the short in pre-novice women with a clean prgramme that likely earned +GOEs across the board. She, like most of the pre-novices had axel, 2-flip, 2lz+2t as their jumps. Julia Mercer also skated a nice clean programme to place 2nd, and Yvonne Chan 3rd. Yvonne landed a lovely 2 axel-2t combination but fell on her 2nd 2-axel and popped her 2 flip. Matthew Power was the only entry in p/n men and skated well. Alex and Matthew Young were also single entries in p/n pairs, and showed a spectacular lift, and excellent death spiral.

Stephanie Nevin's clean programme just beat our Natasha Osmond's strong effort in novice ladies. Stephanie had axel, 2-flip, 2lz+2t plus good spins, high levels. Natasha landed a good 2-axel, but then tried a 3 sal combo that didn't go so well- 3 sal likely downgraded and couldn't add the combo. Great spins and presentation as usual. Jessica Oake in 3rd 2 footed her 2-axel but skated well, and Caitlin Coady in 4th skated a nice programme that looked clean to me.
Amy Hearder skated as a single entry in Senior women.

Final results are up if anyone is interested! Couple of short notes - juvenile was a well skated event with Alex Young just edging out Anna Stylianides - Alex will be busy as she'll be at Eastern Challenge in p/n pairs. Kaetlyn Osmond had an excellent skate to win pre-novice, jumps up to 2 lz combo, great skating skills and presentation. Jill Burton had a wonderful clean long to jump to 2nd - again jumps up to 2 lz, and Julia Mercer overcame an early fall to finish 3rd. Yvonne Chan landed 2 2-axels, one in combination to edge out Stephanie Fagan for the last Eastern Challenge place. The top three are in in their first year at P/N. Novice long was extremely well skated with clean programe following clean programme. Natasha Osmond won by a very narrow margin over Stephanie Nevin, with Jessica Oake having an outstanding skate for third. Natasha had a nice 2-axel, but didn't land a 3-sal, and Jessica also had what looked to me like a decent 2-axel (but not to the tech specialist who called it a single!). Caitlin Coady had a clean programme to capure the final eastern challenge spot.
