Great performance by the French Russians and Canadians. Those three teams need to make a statement while the favorite Russians are not there. I really think Belbin Agosto are regressing right now. They were really mediocre today. I can see the other US Team beeing better than them soon. Should be a fantastic battle on the podium tomorrow.

People stop arguing about the judges. They know the sport far better than all of us combined. It's getting old hearing people complain every time their team skates below expectations and blaming it on judges. The scoring today was fair, even the Canadian woman on CBC here agreed that VM were not as good as KN today...

I'm so glad to see D/S are in the lead! I'm crossing my fingers that they can keep it up in the FD.

I hope D/S win...they deserve it.

However, do we really think B/A have a chance at even a medal? Do we really think that V/M are that good to medal? I'm also a bit saddened at how low D/W are...I would have had them 1-2 spots higher - certainly above the Italian team.

hmm.....I wonder if changes are 'acoming in terms of coaching/choreography for B/A and D/W. I'd like to see D/W leave Igor or at least bring on someone to bring some life into them...they're being eclipsed by B/A and I actually think they're the better team.

I felt a bit uneasy about the placements of the Russians today (they blasted their SB by quite a bit) - before watching their skate. But boy, they were so on. Technically brilliant - every movement so sharp. Incredible skate for them.

It will be a sad day for ice dance when they retire.

At the beginning of the season, Olivier thought it was the year they shouldn't have done, so I am not really sure they'll stay next year :(
He's a young married father and probably wants to enjoy that a tad more.

Add to that they've been crushed trhoughout theyears, he can't take this anymore.

I agree that the Russian were not held up by the judges. I think that if V/M hadn't made that error, they would have remained in second, but they did. They made a major error, and they paid for it. Sounds fair to me.:agree: That being said, I still think that they will win silver tomorrow, assuming that their FD has no major flaws. The judges have preferred them over K/N all season (I agree with the judges, but that's JMO), and i'd suppose that tomorrow will be no different. It's great that D/S will most likely win a world title tomorrow. After all these years of being one of the best teams on the circuit, they deserve it. I'd love to hear how Weaver/Poje did. Did they make any major errors??

Kaitlyn stumbled. They were in a dance hold and she had just finished swinging her leg over Andrew's head and was doing a twirl and then she suddenly stumbled, dropping to one knee, but since they were still holding hands she managed not to fall. Otherwise, a good dance, lots of expression, their twizzles were in sync with good speed, and damn do they get bonus points for beauty because this couple looks gorgeous. I hope they crack Top 16 this year.:agree:

Too bad about Belbin & Agosto. I'm not sure they can get on the podium unless someone ahead experiences a major splat.

There were much too many Russian/Ukrainian plus Gypsy dances - all looking the same as they did 20 years ago. Even the Russian fans were getting tired of it. If they use Folk Dances again, they should separate the Russian Dances from the other more original dances. There were two Flamencos: the French one was quite exciting and not over the top. B/A's cowboy number went over well but judges do not like Americana. The Kerr's again were undermarked. The Novitsky team was just another Russian bore, and I like that team doing something else. Virtue and Moir were fabulous and should have been second if not first. Meryl and Charlie were fine but nothing special.

I'd rather they narrow the gap than have them get on the podium because of a splat from one of the top three. After watching the ladies, it would be nice to watch a bunch of clean, well-performed FDs.

I thought that D/W were undermarked. They skated well and with alot of energy and character. K/N should have lost marks for their costumes. I absolutly hate her's especially. That being said, they skated well and V/M had a mistake, so I have no problem withe the Russian's being ahead. D/S were really good, I'm glad they'll get their first medal tomorrow, they deserve it more than anyother team after being shafted by the judges for so many years.

Why, did he drop it? Didn't they augment the rules to allow the costume props, but a deduction if it is dropped?

The last time I printed out the rules it specifically stated deductions for 'props.'
I remember the Del/Schol program with their gloves that looked like face masks. The gloves were never removed from their hands.

exNyer2, commentators have said this year the prop rules were changed for the OD only, due to the folk music theme. P&B used a fan, and W&P used a scarf.
