The scores of Weaver and Poje are far to short of what they should have. They are the most entertaining dance team.

I'm watching lice Canadian TV. The announcer didn't favor either team. She picked out good parts and flaws in both. I though D/W had trouble with their rotating lift. Did it look right to you?

I'm not watching - no Eurosport love for 4CC - so I can't comment as to the particulars of V/M's placement vs. D/W. But... I have noticed that D/W get a lot of love here at GS; maybe the judges just don't share this very positive view of Meryl and Charlie?

(Full disclosure: Davis and White's skating and programs usually don't work for me)

pcs = predetermined canadian score

LMAO:rofl::chorus:

I absolutely agreed with all the D/W wuzrobbed comments.

At the very least if the judges wanted to put V/M first, D/W should have had highter TES and lower PCS scores but the equal TES score is wrong. This is the cleanest I've seen D/W skate all season.

While yesterday I could see giving V/M the CD, they had more presence on the ice and interpreted the mood of the Finnstep better while D/W were more cautious and didn't really send the performance out. Today, Meryl and Charlie skated really well from a technical point of view and gave a very good performance. While Tessa and Scott are still clearly struggling with the technical details of this program and were a bit off rhythm with each other.

How on earth was D/W's OD scored lower than V/M's one?! They should be first overall by now. Let's face it, I like Tessa and Scott but they are far from their best and the scores they are getting are way too high.
But well, we are in Canada after all...

Can we wait to see the protocols before we start spouting conspiracy theories? The marks took longer than normal, which can often mean that the judges/technical specialists are reviewing elements carefully. Maybe D/W didn't get the levels they normally do, or something went wrong that wasn't obvious. I saw most of V/M's performance and yes there was a minor glitch or two, but I saw some in D/W's performance too. And honestly, .48 is not a huge difference! The free dance is still to come!

Buttercup: I'm not a big fan of D/W either, but I think this result was just unfair. One can argue about PCS, but it was so obvious that D/W skated cleaner than V/M and therefore the TCS is not justified.
Overall the judges seem to give more points than in recent events.

Nice coinage: "extrange." :p I could see that fitting a lot of skaters (esp. costumes) as well as judging.

Go S/B!

omg ahahah I mixed "strange" with "extraño" :rofl: sorry! some Spanglish lol.

And to answer skatingbc: I know I have to wait to see the protocols but it's still weird the fact that V/M's OD was scored higher and it's pretty obvious that being in Canada helps, it's always like that with the "local" skaters, not only for Tessa and Scott.

Thanks, LaLola... I'll guess we'll have to wait for the protocols and see what happened. I wish they'd post them in real time or at least at the end of each phase of a competition. I can't see any good reason to do otherwise, unless the ISU considers conspiracy theories to be a form of self-promotion? which in itself is a conspiracy theory :biggrin:.

Is Minnie the Moocher this season's Kalinka ?
There's a considerable amount of teams using it...

To me, their expression seems forced, especially hers. I thought it was over-the-top in that regard, and they don't have the kind of pristine skating that makes it bearable.

I admit to being a big D/W fan. But I also like V/M I think there are plenty of fans of both teams here. If you look at what happened on the ice objectively, V/M seemed to get lost in the middle of their program and lost some speed then too. As has already been said, this was definitely the cleanest OD from D/W all season. They've had minor to major glitches in it in all their international outings so far. This was far better than any of those.

On the plus side, assuming that there is some cushion for the higher ranked V/M being factored in and that everyone else is being marked "fairly", D/W's scores compares very favorably to those at the GPF and Euros. Still the panel is completely different so there are no guarantees 4CC scores will be similar at Worlds for complimentary performances.

I agree that being in your home country helps, but I don't believe you get a couple extra points just because it's your home country. I think skaters would, in general, skate with more attack and present themselves better. I think the crowd can "pump up" skaters and give them that extra oomph. This extra energy probably translates into more PCS points. But I don't think that comes from the judges thinking they should give the skater an extra point or two because it's their home country. I think it comes from the skaters wanting to perform well in front of their own.
