Pairs FS

But it's just rumor, nothing confirmed yet, so no need to jump the gun.

My photos show a cut from the left cheek bone to across the nose. 4-6" for most people. (and no you can't see the picture -- I won't post blood)

According to her coach she is in good spirits at the hospital. She is doing about as well as you could hope with a big cut across your face.

Not to get off-topic here...but I just saw a picture of Marcoux and Buntin's costumes and realized something. They look like they're wearing shredded Canadian flags. They kinda remind me of Shae and Vic's costumes they had one year...blech. :disapp:

Thanks for the link! Actually this is S/Z's third 4CC gold medals. They won in 1999 and 2003. They also have a silver.

Looks like neither one of the other Canadian teams skated very well in the LP here. I wonder how much of that had to do with Dube/ Davison's injury. I'm sure it shook the whole team.

Sure it did. In the interview with veteran Shen, she even admitted being cautious and far apart while doing sbs spin.

I also heard M&B only did a few rotatations in their sbs spin and just stood up waiting for the music to carry on.

Marcoux and Buntin attributed it to the altittude, but you have to question if that is really all that was going on.

They did the first camel position and then Marcoux pulled up in the subsequent positions. When she did that Buntin also pulled up. They just stood there side by side for most of the time the spin was supposed to take;

Most recent release in the press room says Dube is currently in surgery for facial trauma (the laceration). The eye was not affected, and nothing (bones) was broken.

There is gloom over this competition and it's difficult to shake it off because the skaters were definitely a challenging team. The results of this competition are not exactly unexpected but it would have been interesting to see how Dube and Davison would have fit in the mix. So very sad.

I'm not surprised about the reports of the amount of blood. Even the most minor of facial cuts end up bleeding a lot. When there's no help nearby, cuts to the face and the head are the worse to get.

However, Jessica was seen to promptly and all of the proper medical action needed to happen, did. I wish them a very speedy recovery and my heart is going out to Bryce right now. Poor kid must just be beside himself right now. :(

Didn't they win 2004 as well - with the Nutcracker performance?

I am so sorry for Dube (and her partner too), GET WELL SOON!!!!

I really feel for Jessica because I recently got a long cut across my face. Mine was shallow, thank God, and will leave a light scar or none, but the doctor I saw said there was nothing that plastic surgery could do about it because surgery itself would leave a similar scar. I hope they find a better solution for Jessica. Her cut is probably a lot deeper and it's no joke for a 19 year old girl, and a performer, to have such a prominent scar... even if she's lucky it didn't hit her eye.

Also I heard that patchouli oil can help to heal a scar.

Thanks very much to George Rossano for the first hand reports about Jessica's condition, and well done for not publishing your photo, many would, and just take the money.

Off topic, but related, I noticed one of the Chinese dancers on TV had alot of scarring on his face in different places, forhead and cheeks and around the mouth. I wondered if it was facial acne scarring, but then thought it looked too severe, and similar to burn scars...? Sorry to be morbid and nosey, but does anyone know anything more about this?

i noticed that the first time the 'pool' of blood. could you imagine skating with the ice stained with blood?

horrible.

sbs spins are hard. canadians used to be pretty darn good at them but lately i hardly see anyone who has complete unison.

shen/zhao for the longest time refused to look at the sbs spins in their program. they focused more on getting the jumps/throws done. but i think now they realize how important it can be and it almost ruins a program when you're completely out of sync, at least as a viewer.

but have no fear...i saw an article stating that they believe she will be released this afternoon and have decided to stay in Colorado until the end of the event. they also have hopes to return to the ice and compete in Tokyo.

Bryce says she is calm and strong and she knows the risks of being a pairs skater. And he gave thanks to the Canadian team for all their support.
