Pairs SP: Hopefully Not a Splatfest

Maybe this a little off-topic but I'll ask anyways...

During the SP broadcast, the portuguese commentator talked about Stephane Bernardis. She said he used to coach one of the french pairs but he had problems and lost is license to train. Is that true? Do you know what happened?

I'd kind of like to see Petrova & Tikhinov win just so they can tell the Russian Federation, "Oh, yeah? Sub-standard skating, eh?? Bite us!!"

I think their result here so far pretty much does that already, don't you think? LOL. After being treated in such a shoddy manner by a federation that begged them to come back from retirement they still manage to be the highest ranked Russian couple. I've never been a fan, but it's kind of made me root for them this season.
