Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat, the current French national champions, have come back to their Moscow training base after their impressive showing at the European Championships. The duo was of course disappointed to miss their first European medal by a narrow 0.36 margin. They were ecstatic, however, to skate three perfect programs and win second place for their "Circus" free dance.

If these 2 stick with Zhulin and continue on post 2010, they will be among the best in the world (getting close very fast, but might have been a little too late for next year's podium). The injury plagued field could open the door even earlier than I have had expected.

It also means that you should not take risks and create new elements. If you watch Jana Khokhlova and Serguei Novitski (the Russian duo who won gold at Europeans), you will see that they have taken out some lifts they had created earlier.

I'm not sure that is a perfect winning mindset. But I'm spoiled by Virtue & Moir.
