It never ceases to amaze me how this thread evolves into so many different directions, from baking to deserts, from mullets to photoshopping skaters, discussing other skaters, championships, harry potter etc etc..
I think this thread is a living animal, it has a life of its own.. :biggrin:

YES - the judges gave him a too high scores! ;) ... but this is "internal" National competition.... plus, they gave him certain advantages over the other skaters before the forthcoming LP (as "credit score") :yes: .... due to Plushy skate today with the injections for relieving pain due to injury :frown:

Plushenko beat world record

Turin Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko admitted that he was ready to keep skating after the strain of microligament, which knocked him out for a half weeks. According to him, after the injury on December 12, him was made a special anesthetic injection, after which he two days not could stand on foot.

"I asked the doctor, he said that me was hurt only three hours - but knee hurt me for two days. And then I was really got scared. I thought that all my efforts this year - in vain, and that I will must to hang the skates on a nail, "- said Evgeni after a performance at the Championship of Russia in St. Petersburg.

"But I am glad that everything ended well, and I recovered," - he added.

Plushenko also noted that health is the main condition for its successful performance at the Olympics in Vancouver. "When I out on ice after a week of rest, then did not hurt me anything. I felt at age seventeen or eighteen, when I was in great shape. But this state lasted, alas, only three days, and then it all began again. So, if I'm healthy, then (in Vancouver) will be all right", - said Plushenko.

Commenting on his performance in St. Petersburg, following which he showed absolutely the best result in the world (100.09 points), the Olympic champion said that he was satisfied with a clean performance of complex elements. Asked about error, on exit after triple Lutz, Plushenko said that it "did not his fault".

"For me, this jump was made clear. I had to leave him, but in this part of rink the ice is not very good, I found myself in someone else's trail, and was unable to continue the movement" - he explained.

According to Plushenko, the organization of the tournament in his native "Yubileny" could be better, because the problems are not only in the quality of the ice. "It is difficult to adjust to performance, because here are the children skate, the hockey players..." - complained an athlete. - "Today I went out of the warm-up room, went to skate, but passed by me an hockey player with a stick, and even snag me. This, of course, should not be."

Um... they do realize national championships with bonus points for certain elements do not count for world record/season's best/whatever list, right? I mean, Sergei Voronov got the second best score ever according to this line of thinking :rolleye:.

Internationally, the best SP scores this season are Dai, Lysacek, Oda - all at the GPF, where basically anyone with a pulse could get an SB (Verner did not have a pulse, it's been zombie-Tomas for a while). Then Joubert (NHK), Weir (GPF again) and Plushenko. The funny thing is, all this hyperbole isn't necessary, because Plushenko still holds the real record for an SP.

im celebrating since tuesday,i need a pause,lol, my sis had a big party for her graduation this year yesterday in athens,which was great until we woke up and watched the house turned upside down,after all the cleaning we came to parents and I ve been seeing distant relatives since afternoon, thats why i missed nationals and was listening instead to'how much you grew" , how much you changed","i remember when you were a baby":scowl: how did i grew, I m not a teenager:laugh:
ah dont pay attention to articles, sometimes they know as much for fs as me about golf. I ve seen the breaking record drama earlier in the season. Still funny , 100, lol! So the adjustnment for 3 digit mark exists:p
 
Quick question, who is the man that is with Evgeny Plushenko and Alexei Mishin in the kiss and cry area? He has dark, medium length hair, and thick eyebrows, facial hair...looks a bit wild (I mean that in a good way)...I'm assuming he's the choreographer. Is that David Avdish?
 
Lol, good question, I just always called him "Rasputin", as he looks just like the legendary Russian mystic to Tsarina Alexandra. I figure he too is sprinkling magic dust on Zhenya, or whispering in his ear things yet to come...;)

I'm up late, watching the local Midnight Mass, after having had an enjoyable but exhausting Christmas Eve with family, friends, and loved ones. Ah, Christmas is truly a magical time, my favorite time of the year.

Plushenko is truly playing the COP game... Of course I'm not happy about that but he's here to win so what can I say.. At least he'll beat Lysacek at his own game this way! :laugh::laugh::laugh:
The jumps are unbelievable though, even with the injury..

Yes, i think he is David Avdish... , he looks more like a gym instructor than a choreographer.

Really? I thought he looks like an opera house choreographer or a ballet school instructor (just the look, I don't know anything about him.):biggrin:

Great SP from Plushenko! I thought he has added a lot of difficult footworks in there. Even though the score was inflated, I think it was good enough to compete the top spot.:rock:

Now I wait patiently for tomorrow's LP results, with total confidence in Zhenya's extraordinary abilities to overcome all obstacles, even the rough ice conditions well-known in Russia. But as Mishin said many many years ago a fat cat is a lazy cat, therefore such conditions are par for the course for Evgeni, so when he gets to Euros & Olympics the ice there will be like heaven to him.:thumbsup:
