Practice reports

Olympia, if there is hate, it's of the Russian fed sending Kovtun over Menshov,, but I don't think anyone actually hates Kovtun; none of it is his fault.

More on Practice Day 1:

Jumps were attempted, some were made.
Javier struggled through most of his jumps, but made some really beautiful ones.
Daisuke fell on a quad and seemed a little uneasy about his ankle afterward. He still managed to land other quads and axels though. He spent the longest time on the ice. When he went to leave the ice, people started screaming "happy birthday" to him and he waved shyly before running away. Why? Idk, I thought his bday was on the 16th. Confirmation with google tells me I'm right.
Thomas was the sweetest thing and autographed and took pictures with pretty much every fan that asked him for one. But before he went over to his fans, he smooched nathalie pechalat.
Most of the ice dancers decided to skip practice. Except for NatFab, whom were fab.

It might be best not "to kill it" on the practice ice. Uncle Dick used to frequently say that when a skater does that, s(he) often leaves the competition or competitive performance on the practice ice.

Oh yeah, I didn't meant to imply people are hating on him but it's still iffy being the subject under the controversy.

With Patrick, I think he really wanted to show his Canadian people how he still has it. He had the entire arena screaming for him (obviously louder than any other skater) when he stepped out on ice. I don't think he'll necessarily suffer from having a bad competition because he killed it yesterday.... seeing as the whole "underdog" thing plus support from at least 80% of the arena is probably giving him his confidence back rather than being over pressured.

I thought both P/B and W/P looked pretty competitive both yesterday and today in practice as much as you can tell from the livestream.D/W and V/M both looked good. C/L had a nasty collision with ,I think , Heekin-Cannedy's partner ( sorry , his name escapes me.)No cuts , but Anna took a very nasty blow to the head and was knocked to the ice. She was escorted off , but came back just before the end of practice and took a cautious turn around the rink to show she's OK. ( I hope ...)

I liked Kaitlyn's new statue costume in white ( But I liked the grey one, too )

Tessa also wore a new SD dress in shades of grey with a white underskirt, simpler than the original . Scott in black and grey , same cut as his first one.
Harmonizing with the FD , I guess.

I'm gone, here come the men...

Thank you for reports.

Javier was struggling in Euro practices too, especially the first days. I m not worried :)

Thank you everyone for the reports! I'm a bit worried about Anna, I hope she's ok... I'm happy that P/B were good! I'm SO happy to hear that Patrick ckated well, I just hope he'll do the same tomorrow and on Friday... Any news about the Pairs?

Quite a bit of judging goes on during these practices. I wish this were not the case, but some practices in figure skating will never change. If I were FSKing, I would forbid any judges from attending practices.

In ice dance, the tech committee is usually at one practice (usually announced to skaters beforehand) to look for any "illegal" moves.

Another report of a clean lp run-through by Yuna this morning. She's rocking the practice sessions at least. :)

Dai has had a much better practice today. Lots of 3-3 and beautifully landed 3A's, unfotunately the quads are still
giving him trouble.
