No discussion here on why certain entries will win medals?

Joubert will have his father watching and that could make him nervous. He did well in Paris last year but previous years it was heartbreaking.

Preaubert's serio/comedy style went flat at SA. He has all the tricks but he needs to revitalize his style.

Verner should be on the podium if he doesn't crack. He can be good and Quad.

Chan is a question mark. He has to prove that SA was not a fluke.

Bradley, too, has to reach the audience with entertainment, otherwise: Flat.

Christopher Mabee - Why not, on the podium?

:rock:Agree!

While trying to avoid my favoritism, I found this Spotlight competition to be the hardest to predict.

There are obvious picks but challengers are very close and anything can happen in this slippery sport.

Men: BJ or VDP? or the newbies: PC or CM.

Ladies: Asada or Meissner (big contest here) but I'll be looking at Wagner

Pairs: No contest, it will be Zhang/Zhang.

Dance: Mind boggles: DeLobel/Schernfelder, of course, but what if: Carron/Jost? Cappellini/Lanotte? Khokhlova/Novitski? Davis/White?

I would really like to be in Paris for this GP.

Why they call him with that name?
I don't know exactly.

"My sweet Baboo" is kind of a baby-talk way of calling someone your boyfriend. The only other time I have heard it is in the comic strip Peanuts, where Charlie Brown's sister likes the little boy next door. :)

Except that's in English and Joubert does not come from an English speaking background.

IIRC it's just a childhood nickname that stuck.

My predictions

Men

1. Joubert, because he is a world champion
2. Verner, assuming he lands two quads
3. VDP, also assuming that he does all the jumps and wanders between his jumps as usual.

4. Chan: my favourite

Ladies

1. Mao, Mao Mao, because she was close to being a world champ.
2. Kimmie: because she was a former champ
3. Meier: consistent, graceful, she will land 4-5 triples minimum for sure.

No idea why so many of you guys picked Dan Fang though.

Pair
1. Pang/Tong: they seemed to have what it takes,, to be on top,,, they just need to regroup
2. Zhang/Zhang: they didn't seem to have speed, and always delivered a lackluster performance last year. Have they changed?

I don't follow dance that closely.
