Official practices started today! Rosaleen, when will you start giving us your reports? Will you cover junior events, and qualifying? It would be nice to read what we won't be seeing on TV!

I will also try to supply some supplemental news. If there's anyone still considering coming, there should still be good seats left. The article in today's local Halifax paper said that they've only sold less than 60% of the seats for the event.

I read that too and it is very dissappointing that so few seats have been sold. However, maybe people will buy tickets for the events later in the week - the more show stopper events. I'm really surprised that more tickets have not been sold and Skate Canada will think twice about having such a premier event in Halifax in the future I'm sure.

Why 2007 Skate Canada Championship has low attendance.

Here are a few reasons for not buying a ticket;

1. 
   The cost is higher this year.

• Flying out to Halifax isn't cheap.

• Hotels prices in the area must have gone up.

• Some of us are not only fans but skaters as well and we aren't giving up our ice/training time to go watch when we can tape it from TV and watch it when we have time to watch it.

• Fans who are also skaters, don't have the extra money to pay to go watch when it's not within driving distance because we are already playing for our competitions (flights/hotel/extra coaching/meals and so on).

• The weather is an issue with the location.

• Lastly, some fans have are broke.

I guess for me I am talking about the low ticket sales in the local area. For sure it is not cheap but the people of the area should be supporting these premier sporting events. They are bidding for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and they are going to need people to come to these events. If this is any indication as to the ticket sales they will get then they are going to be in deep doo doo.

I'm really sorry to hear this too. I'm all the way down in Florida, but I wish I was farther up the East Coast. If I was, I would've loved to go to Canadians this year. Just curious, how much are tickets this year? How does this compare to US Nats tickets?

Tickets are very affordable actually.

$170 for an all-event package in the lower bowl.

Compare that to $495 for the "cheap" all-event ticket at Spokane. The lower level seats were an additional $200 or more (don't have exact numbers). (For next year, the tickets are $895 for rows 1-4, $695 for rows 5-12, and $495 for upper level seats.) Even the package for just the four senior free skates at Spokane ($298) is considerably more than the Canadians all-event package.

I wonder how much longer US Figure Skating will be able to charge these prices.
