I admit it seems odd not to use vids of the GP, but here is my guess:

1. the GPs were not GPs, but super duper Nats with a few guest skaters (maybe). So I understand why they are not used.

2. judges do not want to second guess other judges (or maybe they do;)) not the greatest look if the international judges say what were you thinking, giving that skate a score like that? And the scores for the very same skate vary widely.

given this season, it certainly can’t hurt to present a program one more time🙂

Yeah, I suppose so.

Hopefully, there doesn't need to be too many submissions. I believe most of the field can get by with their prior season scores. I wonder how harsh or lenient this technical panel will be...

Does anyone know who the technical panel is? Is it a team comprised of several international judges or people from the ISU with judging experience or something else?

Not sure whom exactly will comprise the tech panel but it's supposed to be panel of ISU judges and officials appointed by the ISU Technical Committee. It would be interesting to know who the technical specialists are.

I do not see it as an undue hardship for those few skaters that this affects to submit a new video. ETA: It gives them more practice and gives them an advantage to see how the program would be scored internationally. :)
Agree.

I think this is a great opportunity for the eligible skaters. To be judged by an international tech team this season is helpful. Even if they don’t make the minimals.

I hope Sondre(NOR) will give it a try for the FS. I don’t see him scheduled for a competition before worlds. I’m unsure about Donovan(MEX). He had it for worlds 2019 but probably lost it that season? He is scheduled for the Challenge in Netherlands, but I suppose he can do the virtual as well?

Anyone knows of skaters who have sent videos already?

I hope we can watch the try outs when they are judged. Last videos submission is on February 19.

I think they can only submit the video between February 16 and February 19. So the first videos will probably be sent on Tuesday next week. I´m hoping there will be information soon afterwards about the results and who tried, and it would be nice to watch the videos as well :)

I´m hoping Sondre will give it a try. Judging on his social media after they released the video try out, I noticed he has been a bit quiet, he seems very focused, which I have seen before competitions before. Based on that I think he is preparing for the try out.

I´m wondering though, the skaters who sign up, they have only one chance. Will the skaters even send the video if they have a really bad skate and they know for sure they havn´t made the minimum?

I´m hoping also Dasa will give it a try, maybe she will benefit for a video try out. She is signed up for Challenge I think, but it would probably be easier to try the video first.

Oh, sorry Snowflake, it seems I have read the requirement wrong and it doesn´t say you can only submit between February 16 and 19. But after applying there is only 72 hours to submit the video. But the last chance to apply is February 16.

It could mean some skaters could already have sent videos, how exciting!

I would assume though, that most skaters wait until next week because they need the time to prepare themselves.

Brandon Frazier posted an Instastory. Alexa and he submitted their SP on Feb 16 and the FP on Feb 17. He has a photo, presumably just before they skated the Free, of them together in costume. He is holding a placard identifying them, and Alexa is holding an iPad that shows the date and time.

So two things. 1. They've submitted the programs for consideration. 2. The ISU apparently has some measures in place to make sure the programs were skated within the allotted timeframe.

I think Alexa's ipad photo is related to this part
"Skater(s) submit a day and time when they will record at the beginning of the video by holding a phone in front of the camera that shows the date and time they selected. *

So does anybody have any idea when ISU will make any update about the video judging? Deadline to apply was on Friday , I guess they are judging this week, because there is a deadline on Monday to submit for Worlds?

So the deadline for the entries for Worlds is March 1, on Monday. I guess they have to give the skaters feedback on the TES before that. So most of them should probably get the result by tomorrow?! I´m wondering if ISU will just release the results and make an official statement about who made the minimums, or if they just communicate to the skaters?

I havn´t heard yet of any skaters who got the TES.

This has got me thinking... I wonder how the ISU will release the information... and to whom... and with what level of transparency.

It could range from "yes" or "no" answers presented to federations with no scores actually made public... all the way to full public release of submission videos with a protocol-type sheet detailing content, URs, etc.

Yes. I wish they would have given any information about how they would present the results. There isn´t even any information about how many applied and when results will be given! But they had a week now. I think it´s taking a while, it makes me wonder if a lot applied and if that is the reason we havn´t heard anything. I thought results may be released at the beginning of this week. But if it means they are taking it very seriously, not rushing and makes sure the results are fair, I think it is a good sign.

I´m guessing though they can´t release scores bit by bit, they should probably wait until they have judged all the videos before they send out a letter (digital) to the skaters/federation with yes or no. I mean if one skater who gets the TES is expressing the joy in social media, while another skater is still waiting for the results, it would not be good.

All though, i´m not sure they would share videos, but a score sheet seems reasonable. I mean, we need transparency to avoid judges who favourite skaters or federations.

Ok, I just read the document now, and it says that "the evaluation will be communicated no later than March 1 - 12:00 (noon) CET in order to meet the March 1 entry deadline"

So any time soon, but it´s possible they won´t give the results before Monday morning.

Ukrainian pair Sofiya GOLICHENKO / Artem DARENSKIY got it.
So I think skaters already know.

Oh in that case then they might have given the skaters the results already.

Then i´m afraid Sondre Oddvoll Bøe didn´t make it.

Not necessarily. I think the broad concensus is that the American pair will make the minimums... but nothing has been released from the skaters or their coaches... at least that I've seen. I don't think the lack of news is actual news.

Well thank you for keeping my hopes up  I guess we will know maybe more on Monday.

Minimum TES isn't the best way of qualifying in general even without the pandemic IMO. A better system needs to be figured out for sending skaters to these competitions.

Oh Sondre... he hasn't even told us if he sent a video, right? It would be so sad for him training the whole season and not competing once :(

Let us still hope they aren´t done with judging the tapes

I can´t tell for sure he did apply, but the timing of when he started to post training videos from the FS it seems very likely. It wasn´t just one day, it seemed he did run trough it several times just before the deadline and worked hard and why else would he do it when he hasn´t been preparing for any other competitions this season? Then he stopped posting the videos just around the deadline, the day when the deadline was he went on a cabin trip and seems he suddenly has focused on other things the past days.

If he did apply it seems he was done by Thursday. He has been very quiet skating wise the past days so i´m guessing he either already knows he didn´t get the TES or he is waiting for the results and trying to focus on other things while waiting, of course I hope for the last. If he got the TES and knows, I have a feeling he would share it/or be posting lot of videos from ice rink because then he would be training really hard for Stockholm now.

It´s also possible he went for the try out, but if he made to many mistakes he might not have sent the tape because he knows there is no point.
