He played a number of roles,
acting with all his soul.
Every character had great importance:
A mustache-man led him to win.

My country produces special sweets
I'm one of the ones who got the big yearly prizes more than once
However, the rarer one, I have never won
Some call it a curse, some others just blame the judges
I am still a star and skate from one ocean to the other.

I'm interpreting the "big yearly prizes" as Worlds Gold and "the rarer one" as Olympic Gold. If you consider any medal rather than just gold, then Elvis wouln't fit.
