Definitely left with a few thoughts from the free programs.

Ill start positive, and try to hold back on the negative.

Firstly, Kira did great. Good song, good program, and wow her jumps are soo impressive - the speed of her rotations in the air had me surprised each time. I really wish she learns some ultra C; she'd be an absolute top contender with a 3A - then again, she already is probably a top contender. Otherwise I'm sure they'll make the choreo stronger for the true debut and it'll make an awesome program along side her SP. Super happy and impressed with her in both SP and FS.

Korobitsina also had an awesome skate. It was mature, artistic, clean - everything you want. With some polishing this'll be a interesting one to watch with the dress and full debut.

Zhilina had a very hopeful skate. Though it wasn't perfect, I really liked some of the latter program particularly; she showed some glimmers of personality and artistry that could really bloom - it seems like shes finding her style. This could end up being a really unique and really fun program when its finalized especially if the outfit bodes well. And wow, shes just so strong! Her core is so amazing. One thing: its a shame she chose a full MJ program this season alongside Petrosian... She may get made to look as though she started skating yesterday in comparison

edit: I was a bit extreme with my original comments on Titova; I'll just say her program wasn't that bad but the music is truly terrible and not her's. I dont know why theyre using this music with her. She deserves so much better. Big shame, because Kira and Zhilina were good but Titova got left behind, and not by any fault of her own but because it looks as though the team got lazy with her? So much talent - shes a dancer, I don't know how they're failing her. It makes me so sad. I hope they scrap this free skate and come up with something else, she deserves everything and got nothing. I'll never forgive this sport if Titova's talent goes unrealized.

I just cant at all get into this, it feels so half assed like she is forced to go up and skate to this Music like this really needs someone who can preform it.

Veronika is a more 'internal' skater and this program is totally wrong for her. She isn't into it and so she looks even worse, like she doesn't even care to try. I don't think that is the issue, she just isn't a exuberant performer, and that's okay. But don't force her to skate an entire LP to which she isn't suited.

You guys really didnt like it? I thought it had potential. I agree she seemed not so expressive especially at the start, but the latter half seemed like it had something to me. I thought this could actually fit her style. Just a test skate.

If I were her coach, I'd ask her what music does she listen to at home, music that inspires her. Music that brings a true smile to her face. I know nothing about her life outside of the rink, and would like to think this girl can occasionally have fun and crack a smile or laugh every now and then. What I find frustrating with Veronika is that she is a talent of a generation and it kills me that she's being packaged in this way. It made me think Kwan vs Bobek. Kwan was a more internalised skater, Bobek had show business written all over her. Maybe try to package Veronika more like Kwan? Kwan would never skate to Michael Jackson because it doesn't suit her. (if she actually did, please don't remind me because my brain rejected it from my memory which is a good thing) Heck Nika should do something like Samson and Delilah, which she has done in the past. Someone said her body is athletic perfection for amasing technical skating. And I agree, and as a former gymnast I agree she would have been a gymnastics star. So give her strong music with a theme. Heck give her Salome and put so much hair and makeup on her you wouldn't even know it's her. She just needs the right music. Let her just tell her story on the ice, in her own way. I do agree Zhilina probably fits something more sophisticated better. Your thoughts were basically how I felt about Titova. I think Titova was failed a lot harder by the music than Zhilina was, honestly. With Zhilina, given her raw athleticism, she can pull off a more exciting program like this even if it isnt perfectly her's. And I'm pretty confident you'll see that as the season goes on, though I totally understand your frustration if you're a Zhilina fan. Her choreo is still kinda cool and unique, there really is some personality there and I doubt she hates the music. Like I said in my above post, Titova with her program has literally been killed artistically. And not just that, but at least Zhilina has real music, but that music they used for Titova was just of such low quality... Big shame, because artistically I see her at the same level as Zhilina is athletically. Titova should have something like Kira does, but yet they gave her soulless royalty free movie trailer music - a disaster.

Hm, I doubt she listens to Samson and Delilah in private, though.
I'm fed up with all the MJ programs for juniors, but I think it could have been way worse and although the Russian girls are expected to peak very early I see her as a skater still in development - she doesn't need to have the perfect program now but in a few years. Why not give her a program that challenges her and gives her opportunities to learn now?
I would always prefer these skaters to skate something that they actually listen to, which is, on average, something very different than the usual fs music, but I don't think this program, at this stage, is so bad for her.

I would, but the copyrighted music causes the video to be partially blocked in some countries. Majority of the audio would sadly have to be muted to upload to youtube

I like it! Reminds me of her Harley Quinn SP from a couple of years ago. It's definitely more bearable than Roxanne. Like the poster above said it's a good time to explore a range of styles.

Super late to comment, but thanks a lot @uwoawuwoa for the recording I might not have watched otherwise.

Overall level seems to be a bit lower this year (both boys and girls), I guess because some graduated into seniors and there isn't an urgent need to be in shape soon. Looking forward to ice dance (both Anna/Goncharov teams) and pairs.
