Level B skaters will not be needed for JGP next season.Firstly, don’t forget that Russian novice and junior nationals are based on calendar year, not on ISU year. That means that even though there may be a calendar year that is weaker, it wouldn’t reflect the same way during skating year because within each season there are newly eligible skaters born in two different years July-December of one year and Janury-June the following year.
Secondly, if you think of junior eligibility, if skaters start competing as soon as they are junior eligible, they have to be in juniors at least two years before they become junior eligible, which means that they are competing skaters of at least three different calendar years. And that’s if the skaters were moving to seniors as soon as they become senior eligible, which they are not. That means that any one year gap of weaker skaters can’t affect the results of any country.
In the past there was a weak year. It was the season when Kolomiec was becoming junior eligible. She was the strongest skater of her year, and at the end she didn’t even compete that season because she was injured. (And when she returned after about a year she became quite a weak skater). But it was the year after Medvedeva, Proklova, Sotskova and Sakhanovich became junior eligible and they still had to stay in juniors, so it worked alright.
Every time when there is a gap in talent (weaker year), the Russian federation filled it with B skaters like Stavitskaya, Titushkina and Gerasimova. No harm done. And later when there were available spots, it was filled with more B skaters - Yushenko, Kayumova, Pervushkina. And later Mitrofanova and Mikhailova.
You forgot Alena Kanysheva - very talented skater born at 2005.Agreed, they will have no problems with filling the gaps.
Some girl from 2004 will probably stay in juniors and then strong 2007 is coming to the rescue. :agree:
Also there is possibility, in few years from now, some 2005/06 'crouching tiger hidden dragon' supertalent like Zagitova suddenly emerges. You forgot Alena Kanysheva - very talented skater born at 2005.
All the situation of born at 2005-2006 we will see after Nationals Younger Age (Zhuk Memorial), they will compete at Elder group.

Any news on the Russian cup final? List of participants?
Probably Eteri wants them to get used to competing against each other not only at trainings, but also at competitions.Russian Cup Final has two goals:
- second chance for skaters who were not so good at Nationals, junior and senior
- extra info for RusFed to create team for Senior Worlds.
So I don't understand why Trusova and Kostornaia are listed. Their status after medals of Nats is already highest possible, they are not eligible to Senior Worlds by age, they need to prepare to Junior Worlds.

On the other hand, we will see Poina, Nastya T, Alena and Sasha
I thought that one of the goals of the Russian Cup Final was actually to... compete at the Russian Cup Final. That's what they've also been qualifying for, right?Russian Cup Final has two goals:

1. May be.
2. No Scherbakova, who needs this competition, her result at JrNats is not so good, and after JrNats she skated clean at local competitions.
We will see Panova's girls and Kurakova. And Chistyakova who has very good progress this season.
Russian Cup Final is significant primarily because it gives chance to pretend to National Team spots and for juniors to JGP next seasons, for seniors to Challenge Series.I thought that one of the goals of the Russian Cup Final was actually to... compete at the Russian Cup Final. Or is it really a completely insignificant competition? It does feel like it should be more important than your average random competition, right...?
How is the national team determined? Will Panenkova be on it?
For what merits Shcherbakova should be there?
