Let me be the first one to start this thread by saying:

GO SAMUELSON AND BATES

Hope you guys become 2008 World Junior Champions :)

I'm rooting for S/B, too. They've had a bit of a rough season, what with the early injuries, the controversial JGPF, and the unfortunate fall at Nationals.

It's time for them to go out there and shine like the stars they are.

WOO HOO

I hope they do awesome especially because they would have won a medal but had to withdraw last year.........

I like S&B but I prefer Hubbell and Hubbell.

Joe
I think S/B by far have a MUCH better chance of winning Jr Worlds and if they can stay on their feet, they will almost certainly medal.

I'm not sure H/H can even medal this time, because with his injury, they lost too much practice time this season. I was very disappointed with their OD at Nationals--it needs a LOT of work, much more than they can possibly accomplish in a month.

I hope I am wrong, but I guess we will see in a couple of weeks. At least S/B and H/H will secure 3 places for next year's JW.

Maybe H/H can finally bring home the JW Championship next year (she is not yet 17 and he just turned 19). They will probably do Seniors domestically next season, and Juniors internationally.

I was really impressed at Nationals and it was so sad when they fell. They do not have the speed of Davis/White but they have that "it" factor that makes you want to watch.

I noticed how Samuelson/Bates do a lot of matching steps, kind how like what Tracy Wilson and Rob McCall used to do. It makes them look kind of cool, but I don't think it's any more difficult than stuff done by Davis and White, whose steps are just as intricate if not like the side by side mirror image thiny that Samuelson/Bates do. I think Samuelson and Bate have a lot of talent, but I don't think I like their over-the-top theatricality. I'm just afraid they're going to overshadow davis/white with ovt presentation, but hopefully the latter will win over with their superior skating...

The most important thing S&B have to do at Jr. Worlds is skate 3 error free programs. That has not always been an easy thing for them to do. In fact, with a fall at Nationals this year, at one of the 2 JGP events they skated and at Jr. Worlds last year, they don't look as reliable as some other US teams. A reputation for falling in the big events did in Matthews & Zavozin, despite being Jr. World Champions.

So my wish for S&B is not, necessarily that they win, but that they skate 3 error free programs.

They had 3 clean programs at the JGPF. The Nationals fall was on a lift they had put in for the Senior FD; that lift is not in their Junior FD. Obviously, competing as Juniors from September through December, they didn't have much time (only about 6 weeks) to work on their Senior FD for Nationals.

He fell in the OD at JGP in Vienna and he stepped on her hand at Jr. Worlds after she fell in the FD. They have had 3 good programs in an event, but it is not a 100% thing for them.

i have found my home in the junior world!
go samuelson and bates!

i've seen their opponents (teams mentioned by other members), IMO, S/B are still up there.

when i first saw them perform at US nats, i was like "ugh....another boring senior team that's been in the senior level rotting....."
that was just my initial reaction to teams i've never seen before
and when the commentator said the words junior....first senior debut....

i was like
their footwork intricate but lacking the senior level speed...
lifts- unique....if they didn't fall, it would've been bad news for kim and brent.

anyways....hope to see them on top at JWC!
