I was not surpirised at all by this Aljona-statement.:yay: This puts a lot of pressure on Bruno now.
1. Shortly after her Gold in Pyoenchang she announced that it is definitly possible to win a second Gold in Beijing. From this moment on I was sure that she will do everything to convince Bruno for the next project.
2. Even before the Olympics 2018 she said that there is more in her body for the time after 2018.
3. In 2017 she said that there is no reason to retire since Claudia Pechstein is 45 and still world class. So why should she stop in the age of 34?
I just doubt that there is enough time left to have a baby before Beijing 2022 and to be competetive in the 2020/2021 season. Maybe she is already pregnant.
Aaah, Aljona, my hero. :luv17: She‘s unstoppable, really! Probably after Beijing Olympic medal she‘d still look at Bruno, wink and say: “Ready for another four years?“
No, seriously, I fully support her and Bruno whatever they ultimately decide to do. Aljona strikes me as someone who could take a year off or two for getting a baby and then come back and start training again. I‘m sure it won‘t be easy, especially going for another Olympics would be tough. They do face some serious competition, especially S/H who will be even more hungry to defeat them this time and get their OGM in their own country. But I think it would be a major accomplishment to get to the Olympics at all, let alone win a medal. Just saying but OSM is the only Olympic medal Aljona doesn‘t have yet.
Well one thing you will NOT see me doing is underestimating Aljona Savchenko . I love S/H too though so I'm going to be pretty ambivalent about who to root for in Beijing...May he best team win I guess!
Its Aliona - that Greatest Showman Song Never Enoough applies to her. She is one of the best competitors figure skating has produced. She is a phenom and she coudldo it. Right now sui and han have injury issues and individual jump challenges. Russia's best team isp robably no more S/K and Tarasova and Morozov are hardly memorable or for the wrong reasons - Candyman. The Americans seem to be in a rut, Canadais rebuilding and the Italians and French at best seem to have the skill to medal but not reach the top of th epodium. But there is Bruno andw hether he wants back and how is h is back excuse the pun. I have had my fill of Savchenkoas a competitiveskaterandwould love her to see ending on top. But I would say a far better chance she will be at the next olympics than say Wagner or Osmond.
This is the "downside" of being the skating partner that finally gets Aljona what she always dreamed of... she will never let you go until you are both 80 years old.
as long as her body is healthy and still able to handle the stress and training, i have no doubts in my mind about being able to win another olympic medal. she is a BEAST.
so many people laughed and underestimated her 4 years ago when she came back with bruno...if she sets her mind to it, it will happen.
