How many go to Nationals? I hope K & R and Steele and R go.................when you say Kyra was not a stick...that is okay but did you mean their fture may be ?anble because he can't lift her........would he look suitable for Elizabeth putnam and could Kyra go with Andreev?

Canadians will have 12 pair teams, 14 dance teams, 18 men and 18 women.

Byes for pairs:
Jessica Dubé / Bryce Davison
Anabelle Langlois / Cody Hay
Jessica Miller / Ian Moram

So everyone in the Sr Challenge gets to go except the last place team
1. Meagan Duhamel / Craig Buntin
2. Kyra Moscovitch / Dylan Moscovitch
3. Mylène Brodeur / John Mattatall
4. Rachel Kirkland / Eric Radford
5. Taylor Steele / Christopher Richardson
6. Becky Cosford / Brian Shales
7. Brooke Paulin / Robert Paxton
8. Stephanie Valois / Jonathan Boudreau-Beland
9. Carolyn MacCuish / Andrew Evans
10. Valène Maheu / Simon-Pierre Coté

Amanda VELENOSI / Mark FERNANDEZ are skating senior as well at nationals. They competed senior at the Quebec summer competition. Because they made the JGP final, they get to go straight to Canadians.

It looks like places 9 & 10 will have to stay home

Gosh. Does this mean that MacCuish & Evans won't get to compete at nationals? :disapp: That would be a real shame. They're the Jr champs, and they have two nice programs this season. Did they have a really bad skate at challenge?

I don't think they had a really bad skate, but the standard at this competition was quite high. They're just out of junior, so they still have a way to go before they are really competitive at the senior level, I think.

Their free skate score here was about 72 points - less than their 77-point gold medal skate at Lake Placid JGP, but more than their 66 point skate in the German JGP. Here they fell on both of their throws (but rotated them). Even if they had landed them both, though, that would have given them only about 6 more points, and they still would have been in 9th place.

Are the junior gold medallists required to move up to senior in the following year? Otherwise it would have made much more sense for them to stay in junior for one more year, since they will likely be competing on the JGP again next year.

I believe that if you win nationals you must move up at the next year. I believe that is why Kevin Renolds moved up so quick, if I am right he was Juvenile,Prenovice,Novice champ, this happened 3 years in a row. I don't believe it was the best for him because he may have had to progress up the ladder sooner than expected. His maturity and over all skating was not at the next level but his technical was, thats why we have not heard much about him until lately. Now he seem to be doing better, sucess is not always at the time that is best for the athetes. It makes you have to work at your weakness and bring your skating up to the next level.

Moscovitch / Moscovitch , oh boy. I didn't expect them to last this long, considering Kyra's growth and height. I was so sure that the last year would be their last year competing as a pair. How wrong could I be?

How tall is she? What is 'too tall' for a pairs female partner?

She's basically the same height as Dylan now.
Makes it tough for lifting, but as a pair skater I know that Dylan is more than capable of lifting his little sister.
I can still see these too sticking it out for years to come.
