Breeders' Cup horseracing is on at the same time---much more appealing than Emily Hughes.

Is that Rudy Galindo skating right now??? it kinda looks like him but I can't be sure!

Yes Toni, that was Rudy. I am so impressed with him...he had 2 hip surgeries and he can still skate and jump!!

it's just been so long, and it was surprisingly good! :) it's nice to see him.

Breeders' Cup horseracing is on at the same time...
Plus, it's Michigan 14, Michigan State 14 at the half. ;)

As for Emily, she just skated and she looked great. Did a nice triple something and double Axel, excellent moives in the field, smooth as silk. Looked like a million dollars!

Hey wait a minute. They just ran an Aflack cimmercial. Where are John and Rena?

Thanks for the reminder, Dee. :agree:

Edited to add. Oh, OK, here they are skating anyway. Nice hair cut, John.

Great skate! I love this sport! :agree:

I've been quite annoyed with the director/producer on this, though...

it's not like they didn't have time to edit and use the best angles and shots ... they keep cutting away at the wrong times... not to mention the stupid shadows the cameras kept throwing... blah!

Not only do Michigan viewers get the great Mich/Mich State game (go blue!) but depending on where you are, you also get Skate America coverage on CBC. =]

John Baldwin cut his hair!!!

Wow... He heard my telepathic wish!! It looks so much better! I really like the " Come What May" program- very sweet and well done to boot.

As usual, I grew weary of the fixed camera on the singer. You would hear the crowd cheer and know you had missed some element on the ice. Isn't it enough that we are hearing the singer live? Just show them at the beginning and end of the performance when the skaters usually skate up the singer anyway...

Sasha's hair looked cute also. I guess I have a hair fixation today.....

I watched a bit. Ok, here is my question, why is Steven Cousin always invited to all the skating shows? I mean, his highest place at worlds was like 5th I believe... I never enjoyed his skating. How come Shizuka never gets invited? It seems like the skating show producers always bring back the same casts over and over and that's how the audiece get tired of watching these shows. Sasha looked good though. I really enjoy her skating but didn't enjoy Sarah Evans. I am sorry but she sucks. I would have liked to see someone new like.. Nicole Bobek or Michelle Kwan, someone we haven't seen in a long time for a change.

Steven says yes, perhaps Shizuka doesn't...

Steven is best friends with Scott Hamilton -so he has an in

Steven is a fan favorite

Steven is an IMG skater - good management

Michelle has moved on from skating, she's always been one to say she wasn't interested in pro skating.

Nicole Bobek - the last time she was in anything it was lackluster. so why bother if she won't be bothered to work up to it?

I've really enjoyed Steven Cousins skating, and was very glad to see him! I think he brings great energy to the ice, not to mention his great smile. You can tell he loves what he does and goes full out to entertain!! While he may have never won a world metal, I think he's one of the best show/pro skaters out there!

Most of these shows are put on by Disson and they seem to only use skaters represented by IMG.

I have a feeling that Shizuka has plenty of opportunities in Japan. With the strength of ladies skating in Japan, there are probably plenty of jobs and media work for her. No need to travel to the US for a single show or two.

Loved John and Rena! So cute - sweet song! And really love his new hair cut, took ten years off him. Rena looked darling also.

Does anyone know how Kurt's Father is doing? I didn't know he was ill again, prayers for him and family!

Did Silvia Fontana Mother pass away? She didn't not say so, But the song and hand kiss to heaven at the end seemed to imply that she had.

Thanks

Here are three videos showing Emily on Skating for Life. Nice costumes throughout.

First, "Taking Chances" (which has been one of her two exhibition routines throughout the year). That's a great colour on her.

Next, "Some Things Never Change," a song by the show's horrible musical guest.

And finally, this video captures all of the other material -- Emily in the credits; her spotlight moments during the opening and closing ensemble numbers; and a short interview clip with her and her mother.

I believe Silvia's Mother is still living. I thought I read somewhere that her Mother and Brother still live in Italy. I had no idea she had had breast cancer though, until this show.

Heck, I had no idea Donna Baldwin had had breast cancer.

BTW, I really, really liked Come What May by I&B. The lifts and transitions were very creative. Not to mention the skid spiral out of the 2A and the entry to pair spin and death spirals. Lovely.

Toni, I totally agree about the camera work.
