So You Think You Can Dance - Anyone Watching??

I think Pasha had a little struggle flipping her over.

I didn't say she was built for lifts, which is a shame because she and Tony used to do some killer lifts. But she still has footwork. I've said this elsewhere, I just wish she'd worn a skirt that covered her thighs. And maybe pinned back her hair. Debbie Allen said, "It was like you were dancing with Bette Midler."

Am I correct in thinking So You Think You Can Dance is not going to be on this week?? :disagree:

Dee

just checked my satelite info and it's not on tomorrow...

probably because they don't want to fight with the 4th of July fireworks that are on every channel

save for ABC which is sticking with its regular programming! no special thing in DC for them this year? Don't they normally do something at the Lincoln Theater?

I've visited DC during the 4th of July weekend several years ago. People gather on the Lincoln Memorial side of the mall to watch the fireworks. It's pretty spectacular watching them over the Washington Monument and reflecting pool. Cripes - that was 15 years ago.

I was thinking about the evening of comedy they normally have at the Lincoln Theater... the president normally attends that event (though I've yet to see them even mention of the President watches teh fireworks...)

I watched "A Capitol Fourth" on PBS... absolutely love that the finale is always to the 1812 Overture! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Does anyone else think Hok is in trouble?? What about the guy (I forget his name) but the guest judge (forgot his name) said he thought his dancing was a little arrogant. I love his dancing, I like watching his hands and his leaps are gorgeous.

Dee

You're talking about Danny, Dee but he & Hok are safe for another week. I wish they were already switching partners, tho.

I think there's only one more week of sticking with the same partners, then they draw new names each week.

Hok will probably have problems with just about any partner dance. 5 1/2 hrs to learn the dance is not a lot and it's a totally different style from hip hop. His best dances have been non-ballroom.

Anya has been great at the partner stuff, but I think she sucked the life out of the hip hop and contemporary routines comparitively.

Danny's been able to do the partnering and the more individual stuff. He just seems to be a bit too remote.

Jamie is very good, but Hok is why people like this team. She's seems very nice, but not outstanding personality wise compared to Lacey and Lauren.

Lacey is excellent all around. I think her brother's personality is more attractive to America, but she definitely has put herself out technically and performance wise every week.

Kameron sorta fades into the background for me. I think Nigel is correct that he has to up his performance, especially when he is no longer paired with Lacey.

Same goes for Neil.

I thought Lauren and Lacey are relatively somewhat equal, but Lauren had a couple of so-so to bad dances (tango).

Sambra is a great dancer, but she fades into the background compared to the other ladies once the performance is over.

Dominick has proven he's got the stuff too, but he's a little odd.

I accually thought that the hip-hop routine was good. The contemporary she didn't quite have the tecnique, but I agree with the judges in that she had the feeling and the preformance was there, even if the tecnique wasn't.

How is Benji's sister doing? Is she a blonde? I think I saw her briefly with her partner the other night. Does she also dance Swing like Benji?

no she's a Latin dance champion, and last I knew she was a brunette... and she's still in this show... her name is Lacey... people have been talking about her on the thread, just go back and reread and catch up, that's what I've had to do ;)

Lacey has been doing as well as her brother, so far. She and her partner Kameron have not been in the bottom 3, so far. They have not had a bad performance. The 1st week they had to perform a Mia Michaels routine outside both of their genre's and she was especially outstanding. Since then, they've also done a Broadway routine, Quick Step (which has usually been the kiss of death on the show, but they were great.) and a real Hustle.

This week Nigel told Kameron that he would need to step his performance up since it's Lacey who has been outperforming him and that they will be switching partners soon. He also said that much of Benji's strong technique was downplayed last year due to his performances. He went on to add that Lacey's dance technique and performance ability is even better than her brother's.

Here's a link to Lacey's SYTYCD page. http://www.fox.com/dance/bios/11-schwimmer.htm

Also, Benji choreographed Sara and Pasha's West Coast Swing routine this week with Heidi as his assistant.

Toni, he lightened his hair too and was wearing glasses in the audience.

If you go to You Tube and type in Aguilera and Candyman, you can watch the music video - Benji is the soldier dancing with Christina.

Also, if you go to the show's website for season 3 and select videos, there's a full interview with Benji that took place before Lacey's audition. Based upon the video, he banked the prize money last year. He's busy taking different types of dance classes, too.

The routine he choreo'd for Sara and Pasha was a lot of fun. He was also the highlight of their rehearsal fluff.

heyang - I have dial up so youtube does not get along with my computer :(

but thanks for the info. IIRC Benji always made it known that he wouldn't just blow his money and that he was very interested in continuing his dance charity program...

I  Benji!

I think Hok is in really big trouble this week. I like him and I liked his dance last night too. The couple that I really like best is Danny & Anya. I love watching Danny, oh my his leap, he did almost a perfect split and I love watching his hands. I think Pasha maybe in trouble too. I do like him too.

What do you think??

Dee

Me too. I don't think Anya should have been the one out, though I agree about Hok.
