Stanislava Konstantinova

No GP events for Stasya. I wonder if it is because she just didn't got any or is it because she is staying in juniors.

Fed always knows more than we do. I bet Stasya will get the host pick unless Lipnitskaya looks good in test skates.

Happy birthday to Stanislava! She turned 17 today!:hb: Best wishes and good luck in her first senior season!

In the new interview

Valentina says that they decide to combine junior and senior level, she will take part in Test skates of juniors in Novogorsk soon. She will try to qualify to Russian Senior Nats in Russian National Competitions and make her best there. Their team visited a health resort at the end of April, everyone had a good treatment, now her health is OK.

I've a bit frustrated that she won't take part in Seniors, I think she would be the best choice for the spot in CoR:confused2:

According to rumors she did very well at the test skate. If that is the case then I would think she will be named either 4th or 5th JGP event. As of now she haven't even been named as a substitute in any of the first three JGP event.

quite a # of interesting interviews on this channel
Stasya's as well

LP - Anna Karenina 2014 OST (romantic walts, she wanted to go out of the comfort zone)

People are still hoping the Fed will change its mind and let her do Rostelecom Cup. And yes, according to those present she landed all her jumps in both programs. There was a small mistake on a non-jump element (the step sequence again?) in the SP and some in the FS. Mikhail Sharov (and apparently TAT) loved her in her SP. The LP also looks good already.

Stasya in her LP presumably to this beautiful waltz by Eugen Doga (and may I say that Keira Knightley looks nothing like Anna Karenina whose appearance was based on a real person. Well, at least they didn't cast a blonde):

She has been assigned to JGP Belarus now. She might be substituted later of course in case the Fed will change their mind.
No, once you are on the JGP lists, you can't participate in the Senior GP. But then Valentina said as much during the test skates - that Stasya is doing Minsk and not Rostelecom Cup. Why or whether it's wise is a different issue.

Also, Stasya is taking part in Stage I of the St. Petersburg Cup tomorrow, but they decided to close the competition not just to the public but also to the press. WTH are they hiding? :angry1: It's a freaking competition, it's not for internal use only like the test skates.

She is fourth after Carolina (72.87), Liza T. (72.29) and Nastya Gubanova (70.68).

Apparently Stasya looked nervous and tense (not surprising as she did badly at this competition last year and it nearly cost her the JGP spot). But it looks like the program suits her and she likes it, so that it'll probably blossom later on in the season. And if she can be nervous and still land her jumps, that's good news. Fingers crossed for the FS tomorrow.

Stasya is third after the FS with 201.76. No information on the jump content this time but it has been said that she popped a jump. Will have to wait for the final protocol next week.
Last season at this competition she got 174 (and still was second after Sima! That competition :palmf:). Liza managed to lose even to Sasya, so St. Petersburg ladies are obviously in far better shape this season.

Wonder how much of that is Valentina's decision to make, and how much is the Fed's -- we probably will never know. On the one hand, I get that putting Stasya through 1 more year of the JGP circuit is in the interest of fairness vs. other Russian ladies, as everyone who qualified to senior GP in the last 2 seasons has multiple JGP medals and made it to JGPF.

Also for a longevity-minded strategy it may not be a bad decision;two bronze JGP medals will produce more World Standings points than any position in a single senior GP competition, and most of the Russian and Japanese ladies who weren't able to place in the top 5-6 at their GP outings have dropped out of GP after one season (e.g. Maria Stavitskaya, Maria Artemieva, Yuka Nagai, Yura Matsuda, Riona Kato, Miyabi Oba). Doing Rostelecom this year is likely to have that effect (she is up against Wakaba Higuchi, Carolina Kostner, Elizabet Tursynbaeva, Kaori Sakamoto, Mariah Bell, and Mirai Nagasu to even stay within the top 9 of that field) but posting a 190+ SB via JGP / CS will help towards earning her 2 GP spots next year and also increase her chances of better placements at GP in the 2018-19 season.

But still. With Stasya and Alisa Fedichkina both committed to JGP now, who is going to be the Rostelecom host pick? They probably took this strategy to de-conflict the younger talents with Yulia and Adelina (it being Olympic year and all) but now that both won't be in test skates, the next best pick is probably Sima, whom Stasya has beat in every head-to-head after last year's St. Petersburg Cup. That also feels like topsy-turvy logic in its own way when the Fed has picked Stasya and not Sima for the senior reserve team. :palmf:

Actually, what's been said is the opposite - that it is the presence of Stasya on the JGP circuit that is unfair, she doesn't really belong there any more, and is taking away spots from girls who do. (Although the Fed's policy this season seems to be "give everyone a spot and then select the best of the best for the second".) While Stasya was seen as the perfect candidate for the Rostelecom Cup. Without her there really isn't anybody who is good enough to be there.

On the one hand yes, on the other - there will be many strong girls eligible to go senior next season. Gubanova, Guliakova, Panenkova off the top of my head. This season, they can't even fill the host spot with anyone decent. It's not going to be the case again. It'll be harder not to get lost among them - it'll soon become hard enough for the established seniors.

The Fed is obviously expecting better things from Stasya, or she wouldn't have got Minsk, but a harder event like Alisa Fedichkina (whom they do not seem to be counting on any more so it doesn't matter if she gets buried). Stasya needs to skate well or she really won't be sent anywhere any more, the Fed's patience isn't endless. She seems to be in a much better shape than she was at this time last season, so I remain hopeful.

Maybe that was before it was decided that Stasya should stay in Juniors? Valentina's original idea was to move Stasya to seniors. I am really not sure.

Considering that Stasya is the only one who is not listed as a substitute for the JGP event in Croatia, I wonder if it has been decided that she is doing Nebelhorn Trophy which conflicts with it. I know they were waiting for news on which spot Stasya was getting before deciding on Challenger events. She definitely can't accompany Kolyada to the Ondrej Nepela Memorial as it clashes with the JGP event in Minsk. I wonder if Valentina will go with Stasya, her competition seems more important for her than Nepela is for Misha.

Decent skate, good program, fine dress, beautiful Stasya.
Let's keep our fingers cossed for FS! :cheer2:
